[00:00:05] We'll be counting down the scariest youngsters, hearing Anwar's employee picks, and tackling the ultimate horror debate.

[00:00:12] What's the worst horror trope?

[00:00:15] Keep the lights on because this episode is going to get spooky.

[00:00:20] Spookier than the movie.

[00:00:23] Wasn't that bad.

[00:00:37] This week on the No More Late Fees podcast, we are joined by our good friend Anwar from the-

[00:00:44] Oh shit, I didn't change this. My bad.

[00:00:47] I was like, that's not Marley.

[00:00:51] My bad.

[00:00:53] Well, we are joined by our good friend Anwar who has been on now this is four?

[00:01:00] Four.

[00:01:01] Wow.

[00:01:03] You're in our top three of return guests.

[00:01:06] Yes, you are.

[00:01:08] Yeah, I like coming back.

[00:01:09] I was thinking about it, no, it was really creepy.

[00:01:11] Like I was thinking about the podcast and then I got a message about it because I get withdrawals from doing it.

[00:01:18] It's fun.

[00:01:20] We love having y'all.

[00:01:22] We love the movies you pick.

[00:01:25] I pick them, yes.

[00:01:29] I go into the deepest crevices of my mind for these movies, yes.

[00:01:34] We love it.

[00:01:36] We love it.

[00:01:37] Danielle still brings up Killjoy every couple of episodes.

[00:01:40] Like, it was rent free.

[00:01:42] It changed our rating system in my head because it's like, is this bad?

[00:01:50] Is it Killjoy bad?

[00:01:52] I don't think so.

[00:01:54] Exactly.

[00:01:55] Now you have a different, you have a newfound appreciation of everything.

[00:01:59] I really can't like, there's been so many two day rentals now because I'm like, it's just, it's not Killjoy.

[00:02:06] Right.

[00:02:07] It's got, it's got a plot.

[00:02:10] You know, and, and, and the effects aren't so bad that they look like animation coming out of a real, you know, why are they going in an ice cream truck?

[00:02:19] Who knows?

[00:02:20] But that movie gave me, right.

[00:02:24] So much new perspective on life when I feel like maybe things aren't going great.

[00:02:28] Like, no, somebody got movie money to make Killjoy.

[00:02:35] I need to strive for more.

[00:02:37] And the actors got cast in it and I know they thought they was something for real.

[00:02:42] They was taking it really seriously.

[00:02:44] They were.

[00:02:48] Well, we're excited to have you back and super excited because you made us watch Ghost Ship.

[00:02:56] We got through it.

[00:02:58] And when I was thinking about it, watching the movie, I was like, this girl is creepy.

[00:03:04] So I said, you know what?

[00:03:05] Let's do creepy ass, scary ass kids from movies.

[00:03:09] Let's like them.

[00:03:10] Let's see what we can pull out of our ass of scary ass kids.

[00:03:16] I said scary, but creepy can also go there.

[00:03:20] Like they just gave you the vibes.

[00:03:24] So you guys think about it.

[00:03:28] Do we have to stay in our timeframe?

[00:03:30] No, I don't think so.

[00:03:32] Okay.

[00:03:34] Okay. So it could be from any period.

[00:03:36] Any period.

[00:03:37] Yeah.

[00:03:38] Okay.

[00:03:38] I have both of mine.

[00:03:40] Oh, and I have a, I have a backup too.

[00:03:44] Okay.

[00:03:45] Well then we'll let you go first, Jackie.

[00:03:48] It's all you.

[00:03:49] I will.

[00:03:50] This is a group of children.

[00:03:52] Oh, all the little kids from children of the corn.

[00:03:55] Oh yeah.

[00:03:57] We watched it like every Halloween growing up and I have not rewatched it since I have become an adult.

[00:04:03] And I'm kind of scared too.

[00:04:05] Because they go after the adults.

[00:04:10] Children of the corn is where like at the end, they're like Mordecai and like, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:04:17] Terrifying children.

[00:04:19] I'd pass.

[00:04:21] No, thank you.

[00:04:23] None whatsoever.

[00:04:25] What was the other one?

[00:04:26] My other one is the red queen from resin evil.

[00:04:32] Yeah, she was creepy.

[00:04:34] She was.

[00:04:35] She was.

[00:04:36] She was.

[00:04:36] Killing people.

[00:04:38] Mm.

[00:04:39] You know, that movie goes in, went in my eyes and I didn't like take it.

[00:04:44] I just remember somebody got like turned into cubes or something.

[00:04:47] Yes.

[00:04:47] I remember that.

[00:04:49] I don't want to see it.

[00:04:52] I don't want to see it.

[00:04:53] I really love the resin evil movie.

[00:04:55] I think they're, it's really well done, especially being a movie, a video game adaptation because

[00:05:01] a lot of times that doesn't go well, but I think it was like perfectly cast and perfectly

[00:05:06] written.

[00:05:06] So I am really excited to rewatch that on the podcast.

[00:05:13] I am going to go with Macaulay Culkin from the good son.

[00:05:20] Yes.

[00:05:21] Nobody has done it better.

[00:05:23] He was bad.

[00:05:25] He was a bad ass kid in that movie.

[00:05:28] He threw him off a cliff.

[00:05:29] He had to go.

[00:05:31] It was him or the actually good child.

[00:05:33] Do you know how bad your child has to be for you to let your child die and save someone

[00:05:39] else's child?

[00:05:40] Yeah.

[00:05:42] And that other child is Elijah Wood.

[00:05:44] Right.

[00:05:51] Another one, Daniel?

[00:05:54] Gosh, you know, oh, another.

[00:05:58] Well, this was like maybe 94.

[00:06:01] I think Kirsten Dunst in Interview with the Vampire did an amazing job.

[00:06:07] She was great.

[00:06:10] She scared the shit out of me.

[00:06:13] So, yeah.

[00:06:15] She got award nominated.

[00:06:16] She was nominated for a Golden Globe.

[00:06:18] Yeah.

[00:06:20] And she deserved it.

[00:06:22] Yeah.

[00:06:23] All right.

[00:06:23] So, my mind went all over the place.

[00:06:27] But then I went and I zoned in into seeing HBO used to do like theme nights.

[00:06:33] And so they did two movies back to back in like the early 90s.

[00:06:37] It was well, one of them was the good son with Macaulay Culkin.

[00:06:40] Yeah.

[00:06:41] Creepy.

[00:06:42] Very strange child.

[00:06:44] But then the other one was this movie that a lot of people don't know about.

[00:06:47] It's called Mikey.

[00:06:48] It was released in 1992.

[00:06:49] It had Brian Bonsall.

[00:06:50] Y'all know him as like blank check kid.

[00:06:51] Yeah.

[00:06:52] I remember Mikey.

[00:06:54] Yeah.

[00:06:55] I don't want.

[00:06:56] Yeah.

[00:06:57] I just saw someone post about that.

[00:06:59] Yeah.

[00:06:59] He wasn't just creepy.

[00:07:00] He was.

[00:07:01] He was homicidal.

[00:07:02] It was.

[00:07:03] That movie is banned in the UK still to this day.

[00:07:06] Like.

[00:07:07] Yeah.

[00:07:08] Yeah.

[00:07:08] So, when I think of a crazy scary child, that's the first one I think of.

[00:07:16] He killed his sister in the movie.

[00:07:18] Like in the first five minutes.

[00:07:19] Oh man.

[00:07:20] She's on a dive.

[00:07:20] She's on a diving board and he just starts jumping on it and she falls in and she drowns.

[00:07:24] Oh.

[00:07:26] I'm like, wow, this is like, they going there with this one.

[00:07:29] Yeah.

[00:07:31] There's, you just made me think of two more, but go ahead.

[00:07:33] What, what's your second choice?

[00:07:35] Oh, the good son.

[00:07:36] Yeah.

[00:07:37] The good son.

[00:07:38] Oh, is yours too?

[00:07:39] Okay.

[00:07:39] Yeah.

[00:07:40] I put my, but put my first.

[00:07:41] Okay.

[00:07:43] I was thinking about, I think it's the Omen would whoever the kid that plays the devil's

[00:07:52] son.

[00:07:53] And I don't all I remember.

[00:07:54] And I don't know if I've actually seen the movie or just seen clips of it so many times.

[00:07:59] And it's like the movie ends and the kid just turns and just looks at the camera.

[00:08:03] And I'm like, and those twins from.

[00:08:08] From the shining.

[00:08:09] From the shining.

[00:08:11] Very creepy.

[00:08:12] My runner up is Gage from Pet Sematary.

[00:08:17] But the original Gage, terrifying.

[00:08:21] Stephen King has a lot of love on this list.

[00:08:26] Oh man.

[00:08:27] I appreciate the fact that they cast such a young child and actually believed he could

[00:08:34] do that in Pet Sematary.

[00:08:35] Cause if you, it's like, wait, he's actually a toddler and he's giving a performance.

[00:08:40] He is great at that movie.

[00:08:43] Is that the same kid from like kindergarten cop?

[00:08:47] And then he was on full house.

[00:08:49] Yeah.

[00:08:50] Miko.

[00:08:50] Miko.

[00:08:51] Yes.

[00:08:52] He wasn't.

[00:08:52] He needed to get fun to the face on full house.

[00:08:56] Messing with Michelle.

[00:08:57] And that's how versatile he was.

[00:08:59] That's.

[00:09:00] Yes.

[00:09:01] I can also be on sitcoms.

[00:09:02] He was on the parenthood sitcom.

[00:09:04] Like with phase on.

[00:09:06] Like.

[00:09:07] Yeah.

[00:09:09] Talented.

[00:09:12] Great list.

[00:09:13] Quality list.

[00:09:15] Love it.

[00:09:16] I could talk about creepy kids all day.

[00:09:21] So we have a question for everyone.

[00:09:24] What is your least favorite horror film trope?

[00:09:28] This movie has a lot of them in it.

[00:09:31] And so.

[00:09:32] What is our least favorite?

[00:09:34] I hate.

[00:09:37] I hate.

[00:09:38] When bitches be dropping their weapons.

[00:09:40] Why?

[00:09:41] Yeah.

[00:09:42] Why?

[00:09:44] I realized something in this movie that like, I didn't realize I hated until I saw this movie again.

[00:09:51] So.

[00:09:53] One character says they see something scary.

[00:09:56] Another character says they see something scary, but the other, they don't say it at the same time.

[00:10:01] Yeah.

[00:10:02] To validate each other.

[00:10:04] So everybody just thinks everybody's crazy.

[00:10:10] Crazy.

[00:10:11] That is a very valid point, especially in this movie.

[00:10:14] Yeah.

[00:10:15] Like the moment you see something, say something out loud, but I think they try to make it where the character doesn't want to say something because they think people will think they're crazy.

[00:10:24] Yes, bitch, we might, but we also might be in a situation.

[00:10:29] But no, but there's, but, but she does say, okay, I saw this scary girl. Okay.

[00:10:33] She thinks she's crazy.

[00:10:34] Another character says, I thought I saw something.

[00:10:38] She doesn't say anything.

[00:10:40] She's again, like repeat yourself.

[00:10:42] Now, now that everybody's here.

[00:10:46] And she didn't validate, she didn't validate him either.

[00:10:49] No, no.

[00:10:50] Wow.

[00:10:53] I'm trying to think, I think for me, it's like the too many twists.

[00:11:00] Like, I only need one, like, oh, it was this person all along.

[00:11:06] It was that all along.

[00:11:07] Right.

[00:11:07] Like, I don't need the double plot twist.

[00:11:11] Right.

[00:11:12] Then I'm like, over it.

[00:11:14] I think they do that for ADHD people because it is our mission in life to watch a thriller or a horror movie to try to, it's like we can't even stop our brains from trying to figure it out.

[00:11:25] So they're just trying to keep up with us.

[00:11:27] It's like an escape room.

[00:11:28] Like we're just trying to be one step ahead.

[00:11:31] Yeah.

[00:11:31] I already know what's happening.

[00:11:33] He's dead.

[00:11:37] And if they just did less twist in general, like.

[00:11:40] Yeah.

[00:11:40] Twist are a cheap way to make you think they did something impressive.

[00:11:44] Yeah.

[00:11:45] Yes.

[00:11:45] Like, like you just, you could have just told this story straight through and it would have been fine.

[00:11:49] But.

[00:11:50] M Night Shyamalan looking at you.

[00:11:53] Right.

[00:11:54] I didn't need to know that that was a part.

[00:11:58] Yeah.

[00:12:02] No.

[00:12:03] All right.

[00:12:04] So now that we have you back again, we're going to make you pick out three movies that you recommend for your employee picks.

[00:12:11] The last time you were here, you picked the Babysitter's Club movie, Flipper and A Simple Wish.

[00:12:19] I did, didn't I?

[00:12:20] So versatile.

[00:12:22] So versatile.

[00:12:24] Absolutely.

[00:12:24] I don't know what I've picked in the past.

[00:12:26] I've picked a lot.

[00:12:28] But I'm going to.

[00:12:28] I don't know.

[00:12:29] I don't.

[00:12:29] Sorry to interrupt.

[00:12:30] I don't know if we gave you employee picks in the other episodes.

[00:12:34] Let me.

[00:12:34] I can double check real quick.

[00:12:36] Okay.

[00:12:36] I know I said, I know I said Gold Digger is the secret of Bear Mountain at some point.

[00:12:40] You might have, yes.

[00:12:43] Sorry, Christina Ricci and Anna Klumski.

[00:12:45] You've got to say the names.

[00:12:48] Oh, we have three.

[00:12:49] Okay.

[00:12:50] Yeah.

[00:12:51] What did I say?

[00:12:52] Gold Diggers, Fear and Our Song.

[00:12:57] Okay.

[00:12:58] And then Eves Bayou, Ghost Ship and The Full Monty.

[00:13:04] Where is my brain?

[00:13:06] So we have to do the full Monty now because you've literally done.

[00:13:11] Well, you didn't do Eves Bayou with us.

[00:13:13] That sucks.

[00:13:14] No.

[00:13:15] Eves Bayou is, you know, it feels a little bit too elegant for what I'm saying.

[00:13:22] Oh, I know.

[00:13:22] But Gold Diggers can be right up on that list.

[00:13:26] Definitely.

[00:13:28] Let's see.

[00:13:29] What year span again?

[00:13:31] 95 to 2005.

[00:13:32] but since you've had you've been on so much you can do anything that you anything that speaks to

[00:13:40] your heart okay so from 1992 dr giggles from oh from 1998 we're gonna go we're gonna go a little
