Bewitched

Grab your broomsticks and fly into this magical episode as Jackie and Danielle close out Spell-Casting September with a deep dive into the 2005 remake of Bewitched.

From Nicole Kidman’s charming witchy ways to Will Ferrell’s chaotic energy, the duo reminisces on the film’s meta vibes, but not without a few love spells gone wrong! They discuss Nora Ephron’s touch on the project, how a star-studded cast couldn’t save the movie’s wandering plot, and the endless list of actresses who almost played Samantha. And of course, there's a hefty dose of 90s nostalgia, wild cast trivia, and plenty of playful banter about Will Ferrell’s Will Ferrell-ness.

Will this flick get a five-day rental or be swept up with the trash? Spoiler: even witches can’t save everything. Tune in for spellbinding fun and an all-too-relatable rant on Hollywood missteps.

[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_03]: They're little Mickey heads.

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Of course, I chose white on white.

[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_03]: So maybe we'll just answer it up picture.

[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'll take pictures.

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Little and she was running a deal.

[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_03]: There they are.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Like little vampire teeth.

[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Sounds nice.

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_03]: She was running a promotion where I was like you buy three and you, she threw in a free pair.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_03]: This is my free pair.

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Just little pea signs.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Ooh.

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I think I bought Rina Scream earrings that she loved.

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_03]: And then the reason why I made this purchase, my little baby orange bird dangling earrings.

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_03]: If you don't know who orange bird is, you're obviously not a Disney world fan.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_03]: He is one of the unofficial mascots of Epcot.

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_03]: I was about to say, I don't know.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know that is.

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_03]: And then one more just in time for Speakeasy's in.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_03]: She has dropped an entire array of beetle juice inspired earrings.

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Ooh, Lydia.

[00:03:50] [SPEAKER_03]: So it's like lace on the bottom and then the top is Lydia saying my whole life is a dark

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_03]: room.

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, just to shout out to five lemons, I love her products.

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_03]: And if you have a chance, hit her up.

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_03]: She has an Instagram.

[00:04:06] [SPEAKER_03]: It's the number five lemons, Ilym.

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_03]: LEMO and S company, CEO MPNY.

[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_03]: And then she also has an Etsy store and five is spelled out if I VE lemons company at

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Etsy.

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_01]: And if you're not watching and listening, you can check it in our show notes.

[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Let's get into bewitched.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, boy.

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Movie star, Jack Wyatt has hit a rough patch in his career.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Looking to make a comeback, he signs on to play the role of Darren in a reboot TV show

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_01]: version of the popular 1960s sitcom Be Witch.

[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Jack insists that an unknown is hired to play his better half the big guy laying

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_01]: which housewife Samantha.

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_01]: So the studio finds an up and come our named Isabelle Bigelow.

[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Once shooting begins though, Jack learns that Isabelle was cast too well since she's actually

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_01]: a witch.

[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_01]: The movie stars Nicole Kidman will feral, Shirley McLean, Michael Cane, Jason Schwartzman,

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Kristen Chenowith, Heather Burns and Steve Correll.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_01]: The movie was directed by Nora Efron and is written by Nora Efron and Delia Efron.

[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_01]: And you can watch it on Amazon.

[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_01]: It's for rent.

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It's based on Be Witched by Soul Sex, but before we get started, let's get into our ratings

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_01]: rewind.

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_03]: So you know the drill.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Before we get into the movie, we'll reveal the rating our Y2K versions of ourselves would give.

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_03]: The net the end will see if our current selves agree with their initial rating.

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Our scale consists of wood by wood by it again.

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_03]: The best wood plan repeat.

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_03]: 5 day rental.

[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Wood watch again.

[00:06:03] [SPEAKER_01]: 2 day rental.

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, okay, but nothing to write home about.

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_01]: In the rental.

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Just get a broom and sweep up that trash.

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_01]: It's trash.

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_01]: The box.

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Danielle, what was your YTK rating of Buaged?

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a 2 day rental, Jackie.

[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I love Nora Efron movies and anti-mire movies.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_01]: This movie had vibes.

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Had something.

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_01]: And that was about it for me.

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_01]: How about you?

[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, it already had one strike against a killing in.

[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Will Ferrell.

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.

[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_03]: And this is such a will fairly will Ferrell movie that I would so white two Kjaki,

[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_03]: same day rental.

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_01]: One end done.

[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_01]: I will say though.

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I do have a thing where I love when

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_01]: comedians go and take a wrong com role or dramatic role.

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_01]: And the thing is that it's not that he can't do it because he did

[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_01]: amazing and stranger than fiction.

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_01]: So I just feel like in general this movie had no idea where it was trying to go.

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And like the cast is top notch and it just couldn't land.

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the cast as the credits were rolling the beginning credits.

[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, I don't remember Kristen Chen with bringing in this.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't remember Shirley McLean being in this.

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_03]: What?

[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_03]: How do you not remember her being in this?

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_03]: It was a one in gun.

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_03]: But it was just like as more cast was introduced.

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm like holy shit, this is such a stack cast.

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_03]: It should have hit and it was just I know we'll get into it more.

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_03]: But it was trying to be meta and it just didn't work for me.

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Any TV show from the 60s to movie productions?

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_01]: I think the template, the blueprint is the Brady bunch movies.

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_03]: 100%.

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_01]: If you're going to do it that is how you do it right.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Anything else?

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know.

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to think of like the other ones.

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Like Adam's family actually is another great one.

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, could I?

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Because it was wasn't bad.

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_01]: No, but we have a lot of, we've a lot of millennial

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_01]: stalker with that one.

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, that one does a good job.

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_01]: It's very tongue and cheeky and fun and silly.

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And I just feel like this one did not hit the mark.

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Even Beverly Hillbilly's fun.

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Really Hills Hillbilly?

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_01]: What is it?

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Beverly Hillbilly?

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Little Billy's.

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, no.

[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_01]: You know this movie had a but like this is kind of wild.

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_01]: This movie had a budget of 85 million dollars and I'm guessing

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_01]: had to go to cast because I don't know where this budget went.

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, it made 131.4 million dollars worldwide.

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm quite surprised by that.

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_03]: It had to been cast driven and nostalgia.

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I read some of the reviews and like think pieces about this.

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it was read it or if it was like an article that was talking about how

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_01]: North Carolina was trying to do too much behind the scenes.

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Like instead of finding good projects or something, she was, you know, had her whole family

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_01]: like evolved in the production of writing and the music and all this other stuff.

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_01]: And that kind of like took away from the quality of it.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I will say the premise just did make sense.

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_01]: No, yeah, any who.

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_01]: The the movie itself might have been cursed.

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_01]: So be which had a complicated development process that took nearly a decade.

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Rob Moro and Cynthia Nixon were in talks to star in an adaptation directed by actor Ted

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Bessel and written by Broadway's Douglas Carter Bean before Bessel died in 1996.

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So this is like a really early adaptation.

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Jim Carrey was in talks to played that Darren.

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Several writers including Laura's E. Elwani made changes to the script.

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Nor effort was then ultimately hired in 2003 and then principal photography started to take

[00:10:38] [SPEAKER_01]: place at the end of 2004 to the beginning of 2005.

[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_01]: So it took a long journey.

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Little Raj, he gave the film two and a half stars and stated,

[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_01]: it's one of those movies where you smile and laugh and are reasonably entertained.

[00:10:57] [SPEAKER_01]: But you get no sense of a mighty enterprise sweeping you along with its comedic force.

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_01]: There's not a movie here just scenes in search of one.

[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_01]: So pretty much what we said vibes.

[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I liked the vibes but I did not have an attachment to this movie.

[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_01]: When I rewatch it, I was like, oh that's right, I didn't like this because I thought,

[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I love this movie.

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what delusions I wasn't because I was a nicken night kid, right?

[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I was watching, I dream of Jeannie be which Petticoat, Junction.

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I was watching this shit like it was you already know,

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_01]: like it was live TV.

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_01]: This was live TV for me and I got to make a night when we moved to Florida but when I was in New York,

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_01]: these were on reruns every day and I was like, this is odd right now.

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_03]: There was one time I was watching Nick at night and like just little Jackie and I like

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_03]: wind to my mom and I was like, Mom, I found this new show that I really like.

[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_03]: It's called Get Smart.

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, that shit's not it.

[00:12:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Unlike Christine who let Danielle live in the fantasy world,

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_03]: mom was like, that was on when I was going.

[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_03]: I was like, okay well I like it.

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_01]: The flying nun, get it.

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all of them loved it.

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So I remember when they were making this movie, I was kind of excited because I do love Nicole Kimman

[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_01]: and I thought she would have done a really good job.

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_01]: But all the elements were there just they couldn't, they couldn't pull it through.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_03]: But before we get into the casting crew, let's hear a message from our podpounds.

[00:12:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Dave Liam.

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Join us for Watch It If You Can't.

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_04]: I'll podcast this all about Bob sets.

[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_04]: We've created our favorite films and TV shows.

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_04]: So we've seen some of your habits and all those you may never want to watch.

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Watch it if you can podcast is available all your favorite podcast.

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Jackie, this list of potential semantics is insane.

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like all these people, all these people were considered.

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_01]: But I guess I mean it, it makes sense but it's so many.

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_01]: So before Nicole Kimman was cast, these are the ladies that we're considered.

[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Jennifer Anderson, Christina, Applegate, Patricia R. Cat drew bear more Kim Basinjer,

[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Kate Beckham's ale, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Connelly, Kristen Davis,

[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Cameron Diaz, Heather Graham, Melanie Griffith, which I don't see that one.

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Maggie Dillon Hall, not pretty enough. Terry Hatcher, Helen Hunt, Terry Polo,

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Angelina Jolie, Ashley Judd, Lisa Cudro, Alyssa Milano, Jolie and more, Britney Murphy,

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Kate O'Neill, one of Pal Tro, Sarah Jessica Parker, never.

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Michelle Fyfer, maybe Molly Ringwald, Meg Ryan, Winona Ryder, Julia Roberts, Brooke Shields,

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Alicia Silverstone, Hillary Swank, Charlize Theron, Ulma Thurmond, Naomi Watts,

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Gina Davis, Jenny McCarthy, Reese Witherspoon, and Renee Selwiger were also considered.

[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Out of this list, Renee Selwiger, yes, Michelle Fyfer, potentially.

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I think I'd say that because I fucking love her. Yeah. If Meg Ryan did it, she would be a very

[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_01]: neurotic Samantha. But I also don't find it too out of.

[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Please, I think Christine the Applegate could have done it if they were going for like a very,

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Brady Bunch, Metaverse version. I don't heat Kate Beckin's sale in this role.

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, but also I am biased because I love Kate Beckin's, but it like I think she could have

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_03]: done well. Yeah, it was like, and there's no like usually when we get a list,

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_03]: it's all kind of like the same people. We're in copy of people. This is all over.

[00:15:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I think they were just like whoever's in Hollywood. Like, I think of, you know, Gina Davis

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_01]: and Charlize Theron and Ulma Thurmond, I kind of feel like they're way too tall.

[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, what they're all is. It's pretty tall too. That's true, right? Oh yeah, you're right.

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, this list is vast and wide, bonkers. And as you were reading those lists,

[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_03]: there are a couple of people that have things that they do or wasn't. Oh Sarah Jessica Parker,

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_03]: always like does this toned pointy thing where she'll just be like sitting in thinking and be like,

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_03]: oh, hey, it's a visual for those listening. Oh and then Maygreens when she face?

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, true. She should have never touched her face. Never.

[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_03]: But that aside, that the part of Nigel Bigelow was written specifically for Sir Michael Cain.

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was perfect in this room. No, no, he, he carried you then and watching this movie

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I really just kept thinking of my dad because it felt like how he would talk to me and the

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_01]: part where he's literally trying to hit on everybody. And she's like begging him, please don't.

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_03]: I felt that Greg, Greg 411 right there. Yeah, he said I stayed cockwalking. I said, please don't

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_01]: use that word with me. And the or he would go, oh honey, I'm just talking. I'm just talking

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_01]: of people. I have a friend who may or may not listen to this podcast that I had to separate

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_01]: her from my father a lot to protect to protect her. I actually don't know who I was protecting her or

[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_03]: him. Yeah, that, that let it ride. No man. You know who you are. I think I know who you are too.

[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Kristen Chenoweth's part was also written specifically for her because Nicole Kimman loved

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_03]: her performance as Glinda in the Broadway musical with wicked Ken Clock that immediately.

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_03]: He goes, hey, hey, it's Glinda. It was like, yeah, I was like, oh, they wrote this part for

[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_03]: because she was Glinda and he was like, oh, he thought this was before she did Glinda and so

[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_03]: it's double witches. But so he was very excited though. A little bit of a smoothie. I don't know why.

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_01]: I like the moment I saw that Jim Carrey was approached to play Darren.

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody will have much better this movie would have been with him and Nicole Kidman.

[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_03]: The problem was when Will Ferrell played Jack, there was nothing endearing about him.

[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_03]: You needed something right who liked about him even though he was a dick in like conceit and

[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_03]: you needed that thing, which he like, you needed the Danny Ocean effect. Like, you know

[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_03]: he's doing all the shit and like, deep like being rude to people, holier than now. But he had

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_03]: he needed to have the charming charisma to get away with it and have people that wanted to

[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_01]: to like be around him. I feel like they played around with it a little bit. There was like

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_01]: hints of it and so it's crazy that he's written by a woman, you know? Because when he's going

[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_01]: initially to negotiate him joining this show, he's kind of sweet and he wants the show to do really

[00:19:37] [SPEAKER_01]: so like you kind of get a baseline that he is actually a nice person and it's his

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_01]: really slimy agent that pushes him to be kind of an asshole. I think if they had stuff with

[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_01]: that dynamic, where you know what is her name? I want to say Samantha but that's not really her name.

[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Is it about? Okay, so I would have liked it more if Isabelle kind of saw when he was

[00:20:06] [SPEAKER_01]: himself and not putting on, which would have kind of spoken to the Hollywood situation instead of

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_01]: it's either he was sweet and kind of had to like be an asshole because he's being had this pressure

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_01]: to play that role or he's an asshole but the moment he meets her he's just so smitten that he

[00:20:28] [SPEAKER_01]: starts to do all these things and then everyone will set kind of sees him changing before them

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_01]: and we kind of see that but it takes a long time. Yeah also Mike Myers was the producer's top

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_03]: choice for the role of Darren. I love Mike Myers. I can't see it now. Not in the slightest, not in

[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_01]: the slightest and also I just don't think I would believe the chemistry between him and Nicole Kidman.

[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah it's Jim Garrett for me. Yeah and not that like Jim Kerry I have a less of a problem.

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_03]: I just don't like super slapsticky comedians but I think Jim Kerry did a really good job in his

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_03]: career balancing those slapsticky comedies. More tone down roles like man in the moon and stuff like

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah well now we know what we ended up with. Listen to what we could have had with this

[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_01]: penny marshal version of the movie so in 1993 penny marshal was attached to direct the movie.

[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Her cast was to include Merrill Street as Samantha Stevens. Very Humphrey's and his date.

[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah and his okay. Very Humphrey's in his name Edna persona as Indora. Robin Williams as Uncle Arthur.

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Shelley Winters as Gladys Cravitz and Jerry Seinfeld and Billy Crystal alternating scenes as Darren

[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_01]: in a nod to the role being recast Midway through the original series run. You have me until Jerry Seinfeld

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah that's when we lost the plot but I think penny marshal would have done a better job because

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_01]: I know that they were trying to do a rom com but this needed to be just slapstick

[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_01]: comedy because that's what the original bewitched was. Exactly. So what a preferred that one.

[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_01]: I the Jerry Seinfeld of it all. No I love Billy Crystal. I don't care. I could have seen Billy

[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Crystal in a like an 1990s version 100% because Darren was just like an every man which I feel

[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_01]: really crystal is but not no Derek. I hate Jerry Seinfeld trash but Nicole Kimman had someone else in

[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Jackie. Was it Jimmy Fallon? So it was during an interview on the Howard Stern show Jimmy stated that

[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Nicole Kimman was looking to add him to act as her love interest as Darren in the movie.

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_03]: 100% can see it if we don't get a Jim Carrey. Jimmy Fallon not a bad run. No but after a failed

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_03]: date includes between the both of them were Kimman years later revealed she had a crush on

[00:23:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Fallon. The role ended up on welfare on stick. He did not like if you ever see that clip,

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_01]: he did not realize it was like a date. No. So confused and I know he big mad. You missed that.

[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Even though you know it seems like you've good with his wife, his current wife who is

[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Drew Barrymore's producing partner. Joan? Well right, was originally cast as Aunt Clara but

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_01]: had to pull out. So Kristen Chenowith recommended the role be given to Carol Shelley because the

[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_01]: two had starred in a Broadway Broadway soundtrack. I Bradway sound like a from Boston.

[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Co start in the Broadway production of Wicked so Shelley took a week off appearing in the show

[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_01]: to film her scenes. I like her. She was really good. All right, how are you ready? Let's do this.

[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_03]: That's all ever been. So the movie opens with Samantha kicking some old lady out of her house

[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_03]: and stealing it essentially. I love to see it. She showed up at this cute little bungalow in LA

[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_03]: and I was confused. Okay, so in the movie her nose twitch is just a nervous tick she has?

[00:25:03] [SPEAKER_01]: The note she does. I don't think she does the nose twitch when she's just is a bell. She only

[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_01]: does it when she's on. Oh well, I guess when he sees her doing it. Maybe it's just like yeah,

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_03]: she's itching or something allergies. This whole the whole promise of this movie

[00:25:23] [SPEAKER_03]: allergy leader on the allergy. Hey, it's a real world problem. Okay, we all have allergies.

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_03]: This is true. So Isabella does her performance her magic by Yankemoner Eurolo.

[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_03]: It's most of it. So Isabella pulls up Tugs on her ear. It's a Ferrent sign in the front yard

[00:25:47] [SPEAKER_03]: and Andre was a furnished. Yeah, fully furnished. The lady's like, okay, doesn't pay any money

[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_03]: and then like even gets a Volkswagen beetle out of the deal. She's not a thief. She's a witch.

[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_01]: She said that she's got to get a job so she could have money. She's just like she's not she hasn't

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_01]: been in the mortal world. So do that before you move out of daddy's house? Why would you do that

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_01]: when you have witchcraft? She wanted to be a normal person. Not yet. I gotta set herself up.

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_01]: But I know what I love those fish out of water movies like this. There's like enchanted or you kind

[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_01]: even 13 go on 30 where you're kind of everything so new to them. I don't know. I thought it was cute.

[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Those are the parts I actually like about this movie. Yeah, like her shopping and bedbathing beyond

[00:26:44] [SPEAKER_03]: where she's just like trying to buy like regular everyday items. Also, like any mama was in the

[00:26:52] [SPEAKER_03]: scene. Like she doesn't have that distance. And extra, she, she's like rope bridesmaids and stuff.

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, oh, right, right, right. You're right. Maybe she was just trying to be an actor

[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_01]: then or she's cool with Nora and she just came out. Yeah, or maybe it will because I mean

[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_03]: he was on SNL with Kristen. I don't know but yeah, there was even in the background.

[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_03]: There were like random famous people in this movie. So she's going through bedbathing beyond

[00:27:26] [SPEAKER_03]: she furniture already furnished house. I guess. Well, she's getting like

[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_01]: towels. She wants to be she wants to be normal. So she's doing weird shit. But we forgot

[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_01]: they're oh my god. There's one thing about the house. So the house that she rents was actually chosen

[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_01]: by Nora Efron because it had belonged to a friend of her parents and she had visited many times as

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_01]: child. So just by pure coincidence, those friends were Larry Burns and his wife, Sandra Gold,

[00:27:59] [SPEAKER_01]: who played the second better known Gladys crevits. And Alice Pierce, the first Gladys crevits

[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_01]: died after the second season and was replaced with gold. So Efron kind of talked about that story

[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_01]: during the DVD commentary that she didn't realize any of this until after the movie was made.

[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Like oh, it maybe it was a witchy spooky. So Daddy appears at bedbathing beyond and he's like what

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_03]: she doing? Like why are we doing this? Why are we pretending? Right. And she's like I want to be normal.

[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm tired of dating warlocks. Mama's gone again. I would like to not date warlocks anymore either.

[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_01]: Fair. I do like that she's a tarot card.

[00:28:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Two purchase her stuff and then when they go to the diner, like she keeps telling her dad that

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_01]: she's not going to use me like age time. She's like I'm down with magic. Like this is the last time.

[00:29:03] [SPEAKER_01]: When they're going outside of bedbathing beyond, he's like, do you need a numbrellist?

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_01]: She's like, no, I'm going to go run at the rain and that reminded me of two things when she

[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_01]: runs out in the rain in the scene. One, the picture of her in real life going like this out in

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_01]: the parking lot with her arms and out after she divorced Tom Cruise. Yeah. And then that video

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_01]: that we're viral of Drew Barrymore just laughing and giggling in the rain. Nice.

[00:29:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Why it would be in the rain? I don't even know what to say. Couldn't be me. Not messing up my hair.

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Yet they go to a diner and again she still using her magic. But yeah, she thinks that

[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_01]: she's going to be fine out in the real world. This is the last she's going to use of her magic or

[00:29:52] [SPEAKER_03]: dad's like, all right, we'll see. Sure. Right. And then we meet Jack who is played by Will Ferrell.

[00:30:01] [SPEAKER_03]: He's kind of a washed up actor. His last project didn't do well. So he's trying to find a redeeming

[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_03]: project and they keep giving him shit because he's moving from movies to television, which is

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_03]: a step backwards in his world. And they're trying to find the Samantha to his Darren in this bewitched

[00:30:25] [SPEAKER_03]: reboot. And as you were reading the laundry list of actresses that were up for this role, I'm

[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_03]: like, did they do what the ladies in the movie had to do? Were they just sit in Twitch Thernos?

[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Probably we just get the best nose twitcher out of that group. So I had a thought like,

[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_01]: first of all in my head, I kept remembering when I saw this movie that indoor was her mom.

[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_01]: And so when she came out and she didn't say like, oh, mom, what are you doing here? I got really

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_01]: confused and I'm like, oh my god, I've made up a whole other subsection of the movie in my mind.

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think it would have been really interesting because why not play up the family dynamics?

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_01]: What if her mom finds out that she's trying to live in this real world and shows up to be in the

[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_01]: cast of the show to try to like, fuck, shit up and be like, what are you doing? You need to come home?

[00:31:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. But then we find out that actual show of bewitched is really based on her mom

[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_01]: marrying a mortal at some point and then just like saying this shouldn't go to work and leaves

[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_01]: and then that mortal rights bewitched. And so like the entire story is based on their family dynamics.

[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_01]: And so then she starts putting things together like because she's never seen bewitch.

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_01]: She wasn't allowed to watch bewitch and she has an aunt that's named the same aunt in all this other stuff.

[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And the guy who plays Darren actually is the son of the mortal and

[00:31:58] [SPEAKER_01]: there becomes like all sorts of drama that would have been so much fun.

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I want to watch your movie instead of the movie I had to watch.

[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_03]: We do see like you said earlier, like Darren is just Eric Darren.

[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Jack is just trying to get back in good graces with his audience and stuff.

[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_03]: And his assistant or publicist, I don't know, played by Jason Schwartzman.

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I think it's his agent. Okay. He's kind of the one that's like really ruthless at the beginning

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_03]: and he's telling him you don't want to be the mayor of Pussytown and like what's was happening?

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_03]: What? Why do we keep saying pussy and bewitched?

[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know it was not necessary and it was kind of weird to see like Stephen Cober just like playing

[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_01]: a regular person. Yes, this is like what is happening? And I do love that Heather Burns is in

[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_01]: another Nora Ephraim movie as I don't know what her role is if she's like a PA or

[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_03]: she's just like a PA but like she knows that Jack is just an asshole and so she's kind of

[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_01]: on as a bell side with everything. Yeah, yeah. So I just I was confused by it all and they again this

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_01]: is when Jack is showing that he wants this to do well because he grew up really loving bewitched.

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And in my movie he grew up loving it because his dad made it and he wants to do it justice

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_01]: and not be perceived as a nephobeby but any of us. But yeah, good. We see the auditions and no one's

[00:33:43] [SPEAKER_03]: landing like the nose twitches off the acting's not there and so Jack is really beside himself

[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_03]: to try and find someone to play Samantha to his Darren because he has insisted that has to be

[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_01]: unknown because he's trying to be the star of fucking bewitch. Make it make sense.

[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Samantha's the stern few which they replaced Darren and no one fucking cared.

[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like this is so true to Hollywood that like when you see

[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_01]: grazing anatomy for example like when they cast Patrick Dempsey and Elampamp Pompeo talks about

[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_01]: the fucking show is called Graze Anatomy and her name is Meredith Gray. But for some reason

[00:34:33] [SPEAKER_01]: the executives think that like Patrick Dempsey is the star of the show. The two of them are stars

[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_01]: together but like they really make it seem to her that she can't do it without him kind of thing

[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_01]: and at some point he was making more than her and I know he was a more established actor so I

[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_01]: get it after the first season during the first season maybe but like clearly she proves herself

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_01]: eventually that's why she becomes like the highest paid actress on television because she cares

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_01]: the whole goddamn show for a while and despite I can go into a long tangent on the things that

[00:35:19] [SPEAKER_01]: this happens on TV shows so often when even the audience knows who the star is,

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_01]: who they love, who they come back to watch, they will pay the guy more and so it was

[00:35:31] [SPEAKER_01]: interesting to watch that dynamic in the movie because when he finds Isabelle and discovers her

[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_01]: at the bookstore twitching her nose and like tries he convinces her to be an actress and she just

[00:35:43] [SPEAKER_01]: needed a job so she's like sure but then she's so enamored by him she's automatically in love

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_01]: with him similar to the issue we had and simply iris-distable because we're like we don't see any

[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_01]: redeeming qualities why these very strong beautiful women would fall for these weirdos. He's like

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_01]: making her literally not even have any lines and she's not even paying attention she's she's so

[00:36:11] [SPEAKER_03]: love with them things he's great. Oh trash. He is a warlocks Isabella run.

[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Yet so we see she does have to try out like he finds her most witches on par but she does

[00:36:31] [SPEAKER_03]: have to go try out and like she's they're like okay now run through your lines as such is like

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_03]: no rain in there like no out loud and then she starts reading like even the description of like

[00:36:41] [SPEAKER_01]: the sad and everything which makes sense I feel like most people would do that if they don't know you know yeah

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_03]: and so he sits down and just starts having a casual conversation with her yeah and

[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_03]: like her answers are authentic because she is actually a witch but they think she just has really

[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_03]: good comedic timing like you need a permit for a poison apple so Jack like does this weird

[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_03]: or puzzle thing or he's like will you be my TV wife? I think that she's just so enamored by him.

[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_03]: She even that should up. I'm like I turned into Napoleon Dynamite all the way.

[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_03]: And so she they just become friends throughout the movie. She just randomly just shows up

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_03]: that's it like and then she just always with her. Like at one point she's just onset with

[00:37:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Heather Burns's character and I'm like what's going on? Do you work like are you just here

[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_03]: to support like what why are we here? We also in the scene Isabella is about is now familiarizing

[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_03]: herself with the witch because she was never allowed to watch it so she's sitting in bed watching

[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_03]: all the the episodes and she has a I am a witch shirt on you. These are the details I need in this movie

[00:38:14] [SPEAKER_03]: like those nods not whatever this was that we got. Which by the way if you like that shirt

[00:38:25] [SPEAKER_03]: we put it in our Amazon store so but then we see like Jack is just a jerk. Like he has this

[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_03]: really fancy capuccino machine literally has a sign on it that says jack's capuccino machine hands off.

[00:38:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Like come on why do but Jack and his agent are talking and like Samantha is about

[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_03]: literally like five feet away if that and they're not whispering they're talking at a normal

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_03]: tone of voice about how they're going to cut all the lines and like she's really just

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_01]: a prop for him in this right. Joe Isabelle does not like that. No she goes full on witch. She starts

[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_01]: and what I don't understand is how her friends don't realize it like y'all didn't see her blow up

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_01]: that it's so weird. That the with all of the sudden she's turning up wind and like bucket

[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_01]: shit up. So yeah that's when she like starts really doing some stuff on set. She's like oh yeah

[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to show you. I think there's been more scenes of her just fucking with him like that

[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I would have enjoyed because we really only got like the dog at first we only got like the dog

[00:39:53] [SPEAKER_03]: jumping into her arms and then Nina had her burns his character like right her online to say

[00:40:00] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's laps and everyone's like it's just funny yeah let's give her more and so jack's piss

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's around this time like she makes something happen and Iris that's hurting right.

[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes Iris so Iris who plays her mom on the show notices it and then she like calls her out on

[00:40:26] [SPEAKER_03]: it but you don't know if she's coming from a place of like issue witch too or is she just

[00:40:33] [SPEAKER_01]: like in a witch on TV right because us as audience don't know and Isabelle is like oh I've been caught

[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_01]: you know so we watched her catch her with her tail of the pulling so she does the switch where

[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_01]: there knows but then she starts pulling our ear and so she kind of just warns her like you know

[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_01]: like you were saying a lot of actors have their their tells or things that they constantly do like

[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_01]: you have to like watch herself or they're gonna catch on to that so it's running day that's right

[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_01]: because of the aunt comes and cast a spell but she don't know just like in the actual

[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_01]: be what showed that the aunt doesn't do a really good job. She fucks it up every time like no

[00:41:19] [SPEAKER_01]: what she tries and so they decide what do they call it though because she came in through the

[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_01]: chimney and so at the house too. So Mariana Nina are at the house and then on

[00:41:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Clara falls through the chimney and just shows up but this is where I get confused because why

[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_01]: her aunt Isabelle's aunt named Aunt Claire or did she conjure an Aunt Claire character like

[00:41:53] [SPEAKER_01]: from the TV show. That is never made clear because when she's angry and she's like I want to

[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I need a plan the similar what's her real name in Maccum's Samantha Montgomery is that her name in

[00:42:05] [SPEAKER_01]: real name? Elizabeth Montgomery. Thank you. Elizabeth Montgomery like a doll of her is like

[00:42:12] [SPEAKER_01]: twitching which wink we never see again. Yeah or like I did an explanation for that but again magic

[00:42:20] [SPEAKER_01]: so one my question is why didn't the women notice? Aunt Claire come through the chimney what

[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_01]: is this her aunt and Claire or is this from the TV show? I don't know but then they decide they're

[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_01]: going to brew up something together and the girls on question this she. Oh well he's a dick he

[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_01]: need you need rich or be a shit and where do they get their outfits from they're all of which is

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_01]: gear um Nina's got a wig on I thought it's so okay they do a spell it hits Jack and Jack becomes

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_01]: so fucking obsessed with Isabelle it starts to get like crazy. When he's on the set and someone's

[00:43:13] [SPEAKER_03]: talking to like the director's talking to him and he's just like staring at Isabelle as she's

[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_03]: getting her capuccino because now they're allowed to use the capuccino machine and like she bends

[00:43:23] [SPEAKER_03]: down to get something and he like follows her down and he's just like stare on his like hey

[00:43:33] [SPEAKER_01]: so he is obsessed and it just gets out of hand so she asks her aunt like hey is there a way to

[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_01]: undo this her aunt doesn't know and then her aunt pieces out kind of like on the TV show

[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_01]: and so then she rewinds time I'm like if you knew how to cast that why did you even ask your aunt

[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_03]: yet they go on this really weird day where he's just enamored they're like eating dinner but

[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_03]: like at like a makeout point and almost feels like he sings her a song it's awful I'm like

[00:44:10] [SPEAKER_03]: almost fast forward yeah and then like she literally asked him oh we're about to kiss aren't we

[00:44:19] [SPEAKER_03]: and then he like responds well you just ruin it misnarrator like there's no narration in this

[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_03]: movie like if there was like an actual narrator like that was a funny thing set they're about to

[00:44:33] [SPEAKER_03]: kiss and then she's like oh we're about to kiss then that would have been funny but like that I'm

[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_03]: like so is he bad like past Jack where he's like rooting for now because like I feel like a

[00:44:46] [SPEAKER_03]: number Jack wouldn't say this he would have been like yes yes we are you know like it was but I

[00:44:53] [SPEAKER_01]: think it was just a weird way to like have her rewind time she's now out of her love cloud

[00:45:02] [SPEAKER_03]: right yeah so she rewinds time and now she has a plan she's just gonna go in

[00:45:09] [SPEAKER_03]: like strong independent woman and so I jacks throwing some sort of fit and she just yells

[00:45:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean she's just like stop like I want fucking lines I'm a part of this production you are the one

[00:45:27] [SPEAKER_03]: who drugged me into this thing right and she says we're in a marriage yeah so I live at one point

[00:45:36] [SPEAKER_01]: she yells be quiet or I'll give you a tale she said that to his arti oh no Jason's

[00:45:46] [SPEAKER_01]: Schwarzenegger character his agent and she has to tell him a few times it's shut the fuck up

[00:45:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and she has to tell Jack to shut the fuck up and sit down and she really gives it to him the

[00:45:56] [SPEAKER_01]: rest of the production is like no we out of here because they've obviously missed it before yeah

[00:46:01] [SPEAKER_01]: but I think it like really hits and because he said in 20 years nobody's done that and I think that

[00:46:06] [SPEAKER_01]: is so true to people who get famous and then you just have yes people around you that you have lost

[00:46:14] [SPEAKER_01]: a sense of reality and now all of a sudden he respects his about she quits because he first

[00:46:20] [SPEAKER_01]: he says she's fired she's like bit-act with she goes and gets our stuff but then it hits him like

[00:46:27] [SPEAKER_01]: holy shit like I am being like a horrible scene partner and this isn't going to be successful

[00:46:36] [SPEAKER_03]: because I have yeah yeah so he actually apologizes to her and so she agrees to come back

[00:46:50] [SPEAKER_03]: and then there's like this montage of them um is this when we get the montage at

[00:46:59] [SPEAKER_03]: the studio where they're like dancing and singing I love them bro I do know at some point

[00:47:11] [SPEAKER_03]: okay yeah I think they go to the studio after hours and they're like singing and dancing

[00:47:17] [SPEAKER_03]: right they call it their their place yeah the studio and they're making like silly faces he's

[00:47:24] [SPEAKER_03]: like trying to teach her like acting strategies we do get some eyeball acting uh he has strong

[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_01]: as Jennifer love he was I knew you were gonna say soon as I was watching this part like oh I

[00:47:40] [SPEAKER_01]: thought I was just gonna call acting okay because I love this sure enough you ate it up

[00:47:44] [SPEAKER_03]: I did only enjoy a whole part and it wasn't even the eyeball acting in this movie it just made me

[00:47:51] [SPEAKER_03]: recall Jennifer was cute by blacking and I know what you did last summer so essentially is about

[00:48:00] [SPEAKER_03]: float home on like a little out of happiness and she's like something magical happened all by itself

[00:48:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't do anything like we had a connection so and at some some point Nigel and Iris meet each other

[00:48:16] [SPEAKER_01]: for the first time because he just randomly shows up on set and since it's a velvet like oh fuck

[00:48:24] [SPEAKER_01]: and they're both like having they're smitten with each other essentially so I think that is

[00:48:32] [SPEAKER_01]: interesting I mean I think he shows up on set and is flirting with other people too and then later on we

[00:48:38] [SPEAKER_01]: start to like their subplot is super cool again another thing I had made up in my head was that this

[00:48:46] [SPEAKER_01]: was really her mother in like she was veiled so that they didn't know it was her yeah so that she

[00:48:55] [SPEAKER_01]: can win back her ex I've been without him knowing that's the plot subplot I had made in my head

[00:49:01] [SPEAKER_01]: that's very if you like Pena Claudus which they fucking sing in this song and like did

[00:49:09] [SPEAKER_03]: that's not a world man to song no very odd we also like there's a couple of throwaway lines about

[00:49:17] [SPEAKER_03]: how Jack is in the middle of a divorce from his wife he was only married to her for 19 months

[00:49:23] [SPEAKER_03]: she left him for younger I always just imagine like a cabana boy yeah so Jack's wife shows

[00:49:31] [SPEAKER_03]: that the bloom is off the rose with her love affair and she wants Jack back why we don't know

[00:49:40] [SPEAKER_03]: she's got everything she's living in his house and she won't sign the divorce paper yeah like what

[00:49:46] [SPEAKER_03]: you you don't need him you got all of the things but this is this scene that you were talking about

[00:49:53] [SPEAKER_03]: earlier where is about like now just side iron this this woman coming in here trying to

[00:50:00] [SPEAKER_03]: steal her man and she she makes this giant fan go off and the lady has like extensions her

[00:50:08] [SPEAKER_01]: extensions and they're like blown out of her hair just going back to I'm not doing magic but by the way

[00:50:15] [SPEAKER_01]: she does make like this whole light picture thing fall on this woman and then she's like okay I've

[00:50:21] [SPEAKER_01]: gone too far gone too far and she reminds it back but then she's like okay yeah just another tweak

[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_01]: just to tell Jack I'm gonna move out of the house oh I'm gonna send horse papers oh I'm moving

[00:50:32] [SPEAKER_01]: to record what is it rake of it yeah Iceland so she just keeps layering on the magic she can't

[00:50:39] [SPEAKER_03]: even stop herself at this point so and I think that's where she realizes like I can have one

[00:50:47] [SPEAKER_03]: food in each world but I'm gonna have to tell Jack about it which her dad is like hmm don't do that

[00:50:54] [SPEAKER_01]: and she's like I can't live with the secret he's like oh no that's easy it's not a problem

[00:50:59] [SPEAKER_03]: but then it's like a cast I'm assuming it's like a wrap party or something or holiday

[00:51:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know some sort of party for the casting crew this is where we said his house I think yeah

[00:51:13] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah and this is where we see Iris and Nigel like all these women keep an up to Nigel

[00:51:21] [SPEAKER_03]: this is when we find out Iris is definitely a witch definitely a witch it she's cast in her little

[00:51:28] [SPEAKER_03]: spells making all these little hoties turn around walk away when Nigel one girl oh it's

[00:51:37] [SPEAKER_01]: speaking of Grey's Anatomy one of the women is Anison Madison Montgomery yeah laid by

[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_01]: get her remember I see her face I see her face too all alone I'm just gonna find it

[00:51:57] [SPEAKER_01]: oh that's not working he hate wall yeah so one of the women is Kate wall and literally she says

[00:52:10] [SPEAKER_01]: to him yeah we can get it on and have a good time but the next day I'm just like going to be talking

[00:52:15] [SPEAKER_01]: about myself and my polotties are a spinning class business or something and then leave you the next

[00:52:23] [SPEAKER_01]: day is so big crazy one girl says I have hepatitis C I don't know why he doesn't see he tells

[00:52:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Isabella one point that something is happening that all he thinks about his Iris and that's just

[00:52:38] [SPEAKER_03]: natural like bitch you're a warlock like you should be glued in that like she like this happens

[00:52:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think she ever like comes out and says that she's a witch in the movie so

[00:52:54] [SPEAKER_03]: love to see it so as well has a conversation with Jack and so she admits that she's a witch

[00:53:04] [SPEAKER_03]: and he thinks she's just joking or like leaning into her character and so he's like oh well yeah I got

[00:53:10] [SPEAKER_03]: bad news I'm a clippers fan blah blah blah and she's like no let me show you and so she's like put

[00:53:15] [SPEAKER_03]: the mustache on the agent and Jack I think just things that like be agents in on it and then it's like

[00:53:24] [SPEAKER_03]: an umbrella in the drink he's like oh you do like magic yeah like yeah so she takes them

[00:53:33] [SPEAKER_03]: outside and she's like this is my room and I can make it fly and so he's holding onto it and he's

[00:53:44] [SPEAKER_03]: like oh so funny and then she's like watch me and like she sends it up in the air and he's just like

[00:53:51] [SPEAKER_03]: hanging on to it for dear life and now he's like freak the fuck out yeah and he's system really

[00:53:57] [SPEAKER_03]: horrible things yes another prejudice man against witchcraft yeah justice for witches and so he

[00:54:11] [SPEAKER_03]: scares Isabella off like she takes off on her room like he literally there's like this big

[00:54:18] [SPEAKER_03]: decorative plant with like these branches in it and he takes one of the branches and she's like he's like

[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_01]: shoving her away with the branches I like that she vocalizes that you're really hurting my feelings yeah

[00:54:32] [SPEAKER_01]: and then she says now you're just pissing you off and you know then she's out that bitch and she just

[00:54:40] [SPEAKER_01]: goes about her life but I love that she goes to the coffee bean because she has this throwaway line

[00:54:45] [SPEAKER_01]: that like they're able to make it full circle she's like I want when she's talking her dad like

[00:54:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to just you know be at the coffee bean and talk about things that have no solutions

[00:54:55] [SPEAKER_01]: that's where something and so she talks she's talking with her girls about the whole situation

[00:55:02] [SPEAKER_01]: and just likes them and quite acting and just go live her life and she was like because there are

[00:55:08] [SPEAKER_01]: no solutions we're at the coffee bean but Jack sees her like everywhere essentially and just you know

[00:55:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Mrs. her is crying when he sees little witches girl's dress as witches for Halloween and then

[00:55:25] [SPEAKER_01]: he's about to go on I think Conan and he's in the green room and then Steve Correll randomly comes in

[00:55:32] [SPEAKER_01]: as Uncle Arthur Uncle Arthur and I just feel like this whole scene could have been cut out

[00:55:40] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't understand like Jack is a is a regular regular regular human right now he's just like okay

[00:55:50] [SPEAKER_03]: with Uncle Arthur appearing in the mirror and talking except like what what are we doing here

[00:55:56] [SPEAKER_01]: like I mean maybe now that he knows a Samantha is a witch fine but who is Uncle Arthur?

[00:56:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Is he some I mean is a bell is a witch I'm sorry is Isabelle is that her uncle see

[00:56:11] [SPEAKER_01]: all this would make sense in my movie yes to say yep because like

[00:56:18] [SPEAKER_03]: yes we're remaking be with so be which the original exists in their world so he would know who

[00:56:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Uncle Arthur is but why is a random Uncle Arthur showing up in the real world to talk to me

[00:56:34] [SPEAKER_03]: to help make things right it makes sense although I will say Steve Correll playing this character

[00:56:44] [SPEAKER_03]: is another 10 out of 10 known it's because that's how the original actor yep what yeah

[00:56:51] [SPEAKER_01]: he was fantastic yeah he did a really good job this whole scene is just like convoluted because

[00:56:57] [SPEAKER_01]: he's apparently helping Jack finds Isabelle and Isabelle is at their place which is the

[00:57:03] [SPEAKER_01]: fucking studio and they're sitting in front of the the fake version of their house for the show

[00:57:11] [SPEAKER_01]: and then he apologizes and like tells her pretty much that he really like he loves her he

[00:57:17] [SPEAKER_01]: is for whatever and that hopefully one day they can get married like all the things they make up

[00:57:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and she's smitten and happy and he's you know he's like he literally could be with any man

[00:57:31] [SPEAKER_01]: in the whole wide world and you're choosing me and I'm like yeah why yeah it's not why

[00:57:40] [SPEAKER_03]: at the end of a wrong calm you're not supposed to be like he could do better

[00:57:48] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah you can do better is about this domino sense none but we do see like the show is a huge hit

[00:57:56] [SPEAKER_03]: and then so they do live happily ever after purchase a house the neighbors are looking

[00:58:04] [SPEAKER_01]: loose Amy stairs plays the wife which I love Richard Kine plays yeah husband which he does a

[00:58:11] [SPEAKER_01]: really good job they both do good versions but somebody I saw reviews said that like it felt like

[00:58:17] [SPEAKER_01]: the roles for Amy and for Steve were kind of cut down so it just feels like they're kind

[00:58:25] [SPEAKER_03]: of just thrown in their randomly just join it yeah yeah feel disjoined in but then like and this is

[00:58:32] [SPEAKER_03]: a established neighborhood tree line streets like very nice and is it about like the yard is missing

[00:58:42] [SPEAKER_03]: something and like grows a tree right next to the other the church tree that's already in the

[00:58:48] [SPEAKER_03]: like we couldn't do something different like oh let's put in a water fountain or something and

[00:58:53] [SPEAKER_00]: like done that the budget that's where it went to these stupid aspect of the fact

[00:59:00] [SPEAKER_01]: like a tree man well that's the wedged that is the wedged let's go through some of the

[00:59:09] [SPEAKER_01]: facts we missed I love that broomsticks were sent out to the movie theaters as a promotional item for

[00:59:15] [SPEAKER_01]: this movie super cute wonder if we can find some on you big bang I'm like I want to be which

[00:59:23] [SPEAKER_03]: broomstick even though I did not care for this movie then or now this was the first movie starring

[00:59:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Nicole Kidman that was seen by her to young as daughter Sunday and fate but due to their young

[00:59:37] [SPEAKER_03]: ages the two girls believed their mother was able to perform magic tricks and they were just left

[00:59:43] [SPEAKER_01]: confused and disappointed when they realized the truth as they should I would be disappointed too

[00:59:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I do love in the DVD commentary nor Efron comments that out of all of Nicole Kidman's roles

[00:59:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Samantha is closest to her actual personality I do like that too it for work I Nicole Kidman was the

[01:00:05] [SPEAKER_03]: notes speaker and she was absolutely lovely like and I would agree and obviously she could be

[01:00:11] [SPEAKER_03]: putting on a persona or whatever but she was very kind very soft spoken so I would agree with Nora

[01:00:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Efron's assessment based on my engagement with her as you guys are good friends now good friends

[01:00:29] [SPEAKER_03]: and then Nicole Kidman was told not to twitch her nose in public until after the movie was released

[01:00:35] [SPEAKER_03]: but did after much pasturing from Jonathan Ross on Friday night with Jonathan Ross okay

[01:00:41] [SPEAKER_01]: as usual guys it's not our first time first time riding a broom around here
