The Complete Works: Season 5 is finally set to make its debut! Look out for the first episode of our Elijah Wood season on Monday, May 18th!
[00:00:00] Hello and welcome to The Complete Works Season 5, a deep dive into the career and films of actor Elijah Wood. My name is Mike Smith and joining me on this journey there and back again is my friend, co-host, and fellow good son... Mike DiCrecio. I just realized what I'm doing here, Mike, is that I just did the intro that we've been doing for the last few weeks of podcast episodes. However, that's a different intro than the listeners are going to hear for the first few weeks of podcast episodes.
[00:00:26] You're spoiling the journey that they're about to embark on soon, that we've already been embarking on. We got a two-month head start, basically. Yeah, exactly. In our first few episodes of the podcast, we have different variations on the fellow blank that I introduced Mike Diaz. And we encourage listeners to submit their own ideas. However, since then, we've kind of settled on one.
[00:00:52] But if listeners have ideas and want to submit them, we can always toss one in there. Toss some stuff in there. You know, it's malleable. It's feasible. Anyway, how are you doing today, Mike? I'm great. I'm excited to get the ball rolling, so to speak. Yes. For the people. Absolutely. So the purpose of this episode is just to let people know that the wait is almost over. Season 5 of The Complete Works is pretty much ready to get underway.
[00:01:18] Yes, your long national nightmare is about to be over. There's nothing else going on in the news that you should be worried about other than waiting for Season 5 of The Complete Works to start. Everything in America in 2026 is going great. And it's going to be even better because now The Complete Works Season 5 is coming out. Exactly. So you're welcome.
[00:01:42] Exactly. So yeah, The Complete Works Season 5, focusing on the films of Elijah Wood as voted on by the listeners of this podcast, is finally ready to be released or at least start being released. Mike D and I have been banking episodes over the last couple of months. We are several weeks deep into the season now. So we've already covered like 10 or 11 Elijah Wood movies at this point. Yes. Which, yeah, and you're going to be listening to Episode 1 in just a couple of weeks as a listener. So that's pretty exciting.
[00:02:12] Back when we were but babes in the woods with no idea about any Elijah Wood movies ever. But now we have seen at least 10 or 11. Exactly. And so yeah, we are going to be doing Season 5 of The Complete Works and the first episode is going to be released on Monday, May 18th.
[00:02:33] That is going to be the official start date for Season 5 of The Complete Works in which you'll be able to hear our review of Back to the Future Part 2, Elijah Wood's first film role. He says a word. He says a line. Half a line? I feel like I remember. I think half a line in the... Half a line, yeah. I think he says, I got it working. And then later says half of the, you mean you have to use your hands, it's like a baby's toy line. Yes. So one and a half lines that Elijah Wood gets to say in Back to the Future Part 2.
[00:03:01] But that's a very fun episode because that's a movie that is beloved to me and a movie that Mike D likes. I think you really liked Part 2. Part 3 is the one you're kind of like ambivalent on, right? Part 3 is the one I'm kind of down on, but yeah, 1 and 2 obviously. Unimpeachable. Come on. Yeah, I'm a fan of the whole trilogy and we get into it in that episode. So yeah, first episode of the Elijah Wood season will be being released on Monday, May 18th. And then every Monday after that, there will be more Elijah Wood episodes coming your way.
[00:03:31] Plus, you know, breaks here and there. I know the Spider Noir TV series gets released at the end of May. So I'm sure sometime in June we're going to do an episode on that, focusing on Nicolas Cage, of course. And at some point we still have to talk about To Be Young, Gifted, and Black for the Roy Scheider season. That TV movie that we forgot about. So that's on the agenda at some point too. But all that is to say, yeah, May 18th is your start date.
[00:03:55] I want to give a huge thanks to music supervisor Kyle Cullen who put together the theme song for the Elijah Wood season, which I am very excited for people to listen to that for the first time in episode one. That's going to be cool. Yeah, I can't wait. It's a great, another great theme song from Kyle. Shout out to Kyle, of course. Yes, absolutely. And also a big shout out to Mac V, who once again created our logo for this season, which you should be seeing right now, because that logo will be attached to this little preview episode here. Hell yeah, yeah.
[00:04:24] And another great art from Mac. Man, our friends are so cool. And it's nice that they help us out do this stupid podcast. Yes. Absolutely. So, yeah, thanks again to Mac and Kyle for helping us put those together. And thank you, Mike, for being on this journey with me for another season of The Complete Works. You're welcome. I'm happy to relinquish the title of Voice of the People for this season. Right. Yes, because of course, Elijah Wood was my guy.
[00:04:54] He was not one of your finalists in our poll this year. Yes, yes. Which, you know, it's fine. It's fine. I'm not mad about it. It's fine. It's no big deal. Don't put in the podcast that I was mad. Right. You're still like kicking yourself. Like, how did Kristen Stewart not take it? How did the Twilight fans not find our poll? What happened? Yeah. We're going to chalk that up to the death of Twitter. Yes. If it was still on Twitter, I would have won. If it was still on Twitter, I think Kristen Stewart probably would have taken it over. But this was the first time we did it on Blue Sky. And Elijah Wood is the voice of people on Blue Sky, I think is what we've discovered.
[00:05:25] That tracks. Yes, absolutely. I think that makes sense. But you never know. Kristen Stewart season six could happen. It's possible. Yeah. But we won't get there for a while. We're going to have at least a year of Elijah Wood episodes before we talk about any season six potential there. But in any case, that's what we're here to tell you. Just we're releasing this right now and let you know Monday, May 18th. Get ready. Be paying attention to your podcast feeds and tell people who if you think they might be interested in the podcast, tell them to subscribe.
[00:05:55] Get in on it. Yeah. Give us a review to share it. Do the posts. Do the help. Help. Help us. We're begging you. Please. Please. Yeah. I'm going to start an Instagram page for the podcast finally, too. So we're going to have that aspect of it as well. But all right. So the complete work season five, Monday, May 18th. Be there or don't be there. But we would appreciate it if you were there. Would you?
[00:06:24] Hey, I'm stealing your thing. There it is. Yeah, that's going to make more sense at the end of episode one when we get to it. All right. That's going to be it for the complete works this time around. Just a quick update. Quick announcement again. Monday, May 18th. Be listening. We'll see you next time. Bye.
