Goldblum Ep. 92 - Kaos (2024)

We are once again returning to the world according to Jeff Goldblum - and this time, Goldblum really is in charge of the world. He stars as Zeus, the leader of the gods, in Netflix's new spin on Greek mythology, KAOS! We've got our thoughts on the first two episodes (and sort of the state of streaming TV as a whole) right here!

[00:00:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Hahaha!

[00:00:04] [SPEAKER_00]: But I just won the big pile shit.

[00:00:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I just could be it!

[00:00:08] [SPEAKER_00]: We may be in some multiverse where I don't even exist.

[00:00:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't not franchise, actually, where would be be without it?

[00:00:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes yes, it is!

[00:00:17] [SPEAKER_00]: That is another use.

[00:00:20] [SPEAKER_00]: To take a take of, take them down and clear them.

[00:00:24] [SPEAKER_00]: The crew's done.

[00:00:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Life, uh, finds a way.

[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Hello and welcome to episode 92 of the complete works season 2.

[00:00:36] [SPEAKER_02]: A deep dive into the career and films of actor Jeff Goldblum.

[00:00:40] [SPEAKER_02]: My name is Mike Smith and is your enemy on this journey into the world according to Jeff Goldblum

[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_02]: is my friend, co-host and fellow Goldblumaniac.

[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_01]: My degree, yeah.

[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_01]: How's your name?

[00:00:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm doing great.

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_01]: It's good to be back in the Goldblumaniac shoes where we're here.

[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think every time we do one of these episodes of the first three seasons where

[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_01]: we have to come back, I'm more and more confident in my correct choice to make us do

[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_01]: you well, to lean on the scale for Roy Shider for season 4.

[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_01]: So we don't have to come back and be more of season 4.

[00:01:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Right, yes.

[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_02]: The crushing weights of three seasons worth of living actors to come back to their

[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_02]: stuff is getting to you is what it sounds like.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just, I'm scared for what it's going to happen.

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Come tocember time when we have to cross the streams between seasons 2 and 3.

[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, when Wicked comes out.

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the podcast will simply like implode in itself because Jeff Goldblum and Michelle

[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Yaw are in the same movie.

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Correct.

[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_01]: We'll just like to delete everything from the servers it's gone.

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I guess the real question there when Wicked comes out.

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_02]: I assumed we would just do one episode that focuses on both of them.

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Why would you even put this out there?

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_02]: What if we had to do two episodes?

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_02]: One from the Goldblum perspective and one from the Yow perspective.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.

[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, boy.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and since it's going to be two Wicked movies that's four episodes.

[00:01:57] Right.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_01]: You know who's not going to be making a see for new episodes Roy Shiner.

[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Good old dead Roy Shiner.

[00:02:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Alright, P.

[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, alright, P.

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_02]: One of our best actors we love him but it's been a little while since we talked about

[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Jeff Goldblum.

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Mike on this podcast, you know, I didn't the last time we did was right before the start

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_02]: of the Roy Shiner season actually.

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_02]: That's right.

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Which was they shot the piano player, which came earlier this year.

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.

[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was thinking about that.

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, oh, it's actually a lot more recent than I would have thought that we

[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_01]: were just did a Goldblum episode.

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I think that speaks to how memorable they shot the piano player was for you.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, true.

[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_02]: But still, yeah, that was the last time we talked about Goldblum and yes, as Mike said,

[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_02]: he is going to come back before the year is out because he is of course playing the

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_02]: wonderful Wizard of Oz in the upcoming Wicked Part 1 alongside Michelle Yow.

[00:02:49] [SPEAKER_02]: But Goldblum is sort of at a point in his career where he can kind of just do whatever.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think we've talked about that a lot in the last few episodes of the Goldblum season,

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_02]: right, Mike?

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he has been for a while.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_02]: That's true.

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_02]: That point.

[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I think once you get into like the 2000s it's like, yeah, he's kind of just comfortable

[00:03:07] [SPEAKER_02]: doing just being Goldblum, doing his thing.

[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I feel like I feel like really it was a Thor Ragnarok with Grandmaster.

[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_01]: It was like, okay, this is sort of just the Goldblum character now.

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_01]: And then he's World Recorded Goldblum and all that stuff.

[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm even talking about, I mean, that's a much more high profile project than what

[00:03:24] [SPEAKER_02]: he usually ends up doing I think these days.

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he does seem to like delight in reprising Ian Malcolm when he gets the chance.

[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_02]: He'll pop up in a couple of West Anderson movies here and there.

[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_02]: But he's also pretty content to just like chill out, records him jazz albums, take

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_02]: a few years off in between starring in movies.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_02]: It's just my opinion.

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's a little surprising to me that Jeff Goldblum signed on to Starin.

[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_02]: And what is sort of the lead role in a new Netflix series, which just meant it's debut

[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_02]: a couple of weeks ago.

[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Mike watched the first episode for this.

[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_02]: I've watched the first two episodes.

[00:03:58] [SPEAKER_02]: So now it's time to talk about chaos with a K.

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_02]: That was helpful.

[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_02]: If the goddamn gods.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_00]: If I were the world, two men's, when they're not scared, they're not worshiping me.

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Every day you would be the first day.

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I think my favorite is fire.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, oh.

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Look at what we've done.

[00:04:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Very good.

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_00]: That's it, I'm in here.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Give it to me.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Give it to me.

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Give it to me.

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not.

[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_02]: They don't give a shit about any of us.

[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I defy the gods.

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to wipe these fuckers right now for the face of the fucking earth.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_03]: The war.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Second day.

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, you did not tell your mother that it's so I can take.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_00]: She's not my mother.

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_02]: So chaos is a show that takes the ideas of Greek mythology and translates them into

[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_02]: the modern day in which Zeus begins to fear the end of his reign as the King of the Gods.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Jeff Goldblum plays Zeus.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Hell yeah.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Which a great casting choice, really fun.

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And I was fully expecting for him to pop in like once in the episode.

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_02]: They got the very end.

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Last five seconds.

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_02]: We often got with Michelleio that happened a lot with her season, where the Witcher

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_02]: blood origin or American born Chinese, like the very end of the first episode would finally

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_02]: feature Michelleio.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_01]: How could you forget payback?

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Or whatever that show was called.

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Which show are you talking about?

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, strike back.

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Strike back.

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_02]: There we go.

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_02]: I watched like half of that season and I can't remember.

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_02]: You did.

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I watched only the first episode of that.

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_02]: I think of that.

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_02]: But you put in the work for strike back.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I think you liked it.

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_01]: You were trying to do it.

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_01]: It got to the point where two main characters strike in the world.

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Back.

[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Head infiltrated North Korea.

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_01]: They were to kidnap somebody and I was like, you know what?

[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't really think this shows about Michelleio anymore.

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I can't have just stopped watching it.

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_02]: But I remember in that season like, oh, that first episode of Michelleio is like the

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_02]: scared wife of a guy who's son gets kidnapped or something right?

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_02]: And then later as we discovered, as you discovered in following episode, she turns out

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_02]: to be like a secret villain, the entire timer's something.

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Like the main mastermind for the villains.

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's not in the first episode at all.

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Not in the first episode, which is what our episode was about.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_02]: So we had very little context to go off of.

[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_02]: But I was fully expecting something like that for Jeff Goldham in this show.

[00:07:09] [SPEAKER_02]: But he is actually pretty heavily featured in it.

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Although a lot of his scenes are just him talking to himself in a garden.

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_02]: In a green screen garden.

[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Very green screen garden.

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_02]: So maybe didn't take that long to shoot.

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe this is a couple of days of work for Jeff Goldham.

[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Interestingly though, Jeff Goldham, not the first choice here.

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_02]: He was not the original person cast as Zeus.

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_02]: You know who was?

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_02]: No, tell me.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I couldn't even guess.

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Nobody came to mind.

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Hugh Grant was really originally cast as Zeus in this show.

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_02]: I had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Maybe because he was in Wonka or something.

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_02]: He's making her a ticker, whatever that do we view is.

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_02]: I have heard he's really great in her.

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you two got around seeing that yet.

[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, Jeff Goldham ended up taking on the role of Zeus.

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_02]: And it was a huge ensemble cast we've got here.

[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm only going to highlight just a few names.

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Janimic Tier, known for movies like Albert Knob's

[00:07:59] [SPEAKER_02]: and Velvet Goldbind, she plays Hera Zeus's wife.

[00:08:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Cliff Curtis from Fear the Walking Dead

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_02]: and movies like Whale Rider and Sunshine.

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_02]: He plays Poseidon David Thulis, who of course is

[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_02]: really misloopin' from Harry Potter movies

[00:08:10] [SPEAKER_02]: and also just one of my favorite British character actors.

[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_02]: He's always poppin' up in things.

[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_02]: He plays Hades, Steven Delane, who played Stanisperrathian

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_02]: on Game of Thrones, plays Prometheus, Billy Piper

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_02]: from Doctor Who, plays Cassandra and Eddie Isard,

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_02]: also known as Susie Isard now.

[00:08:25] [SPEAKER_02]: She goes by both appears as one of the fates.

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's an episode too, Mike.

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_02]: He didn't see it.

[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, interesting.

[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_01]: No, those people are the Thin Zeus and Hera

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_01]: are in the first of the big, big-name actors.

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_02]: I think Steven Delane is in the first episode.

[00:08:40] [SPEAKER_02]: He's a guy who's like Chained of the Rock

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_02]: and he's the Beast.

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_02]: He's sort of the narrator of the show, I think.

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_02]: For God, he shows up at the end.

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, but yeah, he pops up.

[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_02]: But the show is created by Charlie Coval,

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_02]: who also wrote every episode.

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Coval was also the creator of the end of the fucking world,

[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_02]: which was another British show from a few years ago.

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_02]: That's distributed by Netflix in the US.

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_02]: And the first two episodes were directed by Georgie Banks' Davies.

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_02]: So the show was released on Netflix on August 29, 2024.

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And if you chose to leave the house and go

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_02]: to the theater that weekend instead, your choices were pretty slim.

[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_02]: I was actually trying to find,

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_02]: I wanted to see what the Netflix top 10 was,

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_02]: the weekend of August 29, 2024.

[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_02]: There's no archive for that.

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_01]: You can't find it.

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_01]: The metrics are unreal.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's very dust.

[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_02]: It's Fagazzi.

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_02]: It's Fazzi.

[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_02]: It's Wuzzi.

[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_02]: So as said, here's the box office top 10 for that weekend.

[00:09:28] [SPEAKER_02]: Opening to number three was Reagan.

[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, pretty, pretty, pretty dismal week.

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_02]: At the box office, Reagan is the new Ronald Reagan biopic,

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_02]: starring Dennis Quade as Ronald Reagan.

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I've heard it's time for a good.

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_02]: As you might imagine, and opening to number nine was a

[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Blum House horror movie starring John Show about a smart home AI

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_02]: that increasingly goes bad.

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And then that one barely made a blip.

[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_02]: I had no idea this existed.

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_02]: I saw the trailer for this, and I don't remember what it was before,

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_02]: but I saw the trailer was like, wow, that's crazy.

[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_02]: And then I guess it's already out and gone.

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, I had no idea this existed.

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_02]: And yet, it's just completely gone.

[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe before Kuku and I feel like maybe I saw it?

[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_01]: So okay, like, you know, within the last month,

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_01]: like at the first time I saw the trailer.

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_02]: For the game out three weeks ago.

[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, it's, it's, it's hour to it's gone.

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, it's, it really just kind of came and went.

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_02]: The rest of the top 10 consists of Deadpool and Wolverine at number one in

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_02]: its sixth week at the box office, which we talked about as a bonus episode

[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_02]: in this podcast sort of accidentally, because we meant it to be like 15

[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_02]: minute discussion ends up being like an hour.

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, I was like, also alien, rameneless, twisters still hanging out in there.

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_02]: It ends with us, the forge, blink twice,

[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_02]: despicable me for and the IMAX rerelease of Coraline around that

[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_02]: at your top 10, which you know, we should talk about the summer as a,

[00:10:52] [SPEAKER_02]: as a, you've been kind of back in movies in a big way.

[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_02]: And this is about 2024.

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_02]: How did you feel about the summer movie going?

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_02]: You're about to cancel your, uh, regal unlimited subscription

[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_02]: because of three months for almost up, right?

[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I actually did just cancel it, um, but it is good to be,

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_01]: because it, well, so I have one more month because I didn't

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_01]: realize the date when the renewal thing was.

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_01]: I missed it.

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_01]: So I have to be in a October now and then it will end.

[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so I do have one more month of movies to go for free.

[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_01]: But I was on a run. I feel like I was doing pretty good.

[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of good stuff.

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I didn't really take full advantage of it.

[00:11:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Like the, the conceit of being able to go to any movie for free.

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I went at least once a week.

[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, sometimes why.

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_01]: So I got my money's worth for sure.

[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that's, that's if you're going at least once a week,

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_02]: I think that's taken advantage of it for sure.

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_02]: But I know, I mean, I'm not sure how different regal is from the AMC.

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_02]: It's three movies a week.

[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, regal is totally unlimited.

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_01]: You can do it.

[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Go as many times as you want to anything.

[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, then like, you know, of course, search arches for iMacs and no

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_01]: that shit.

[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Um, but okay, that's the, the AMC does not charge you for search arches for

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_02]: iMacs between the year.

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_01]: So there's up charges for the like premium formats.

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, on top of being in New York, which is the most expensive tier

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_01]: air quotes.

[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so of course of that.

[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_01]: So there's that, but I mean, so like I was definitely getting free tickets

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_01]: because I was going more than twice a month or whatever it is.

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, uh, like you know, I could have gone to see border lands.

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I could have got like I could have gone to see like random shit that I would never

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_01]: go see, but because it's free.

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I could have went and the only one exercism or exercist or whatever that

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_01]: uh, that was a great way.

[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it was just called like the exercism or something.

[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Something like that.

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, that was the only one that I think fell in that category for me this summer where I was

[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_01]: like I would never pay for this, but for free, I'm kind of into it.

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, see, you're living the movie past year that that's what I'm trying to

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_02]: wanted to do.

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, when movie past like really kicked it kicked in the high gear for that year

[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_02]: that it existed and then totally you know, I mean, this whole documentary about it now

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_02]: would totally plummet and stuff like that.

[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, what it was like $10 a month, I saw so much stuff that I probably would not

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_02]: have gone to see otherwise.

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, simply because I could because I was like, well, I've the only thing I'm

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_02]: wasting here is my time.

[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, yeah, so let's see.

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I either see and trying to see here.

[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't try to, oh man, because oh, it's weird.

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Like 10 or 10 movies.

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Is this maybe over the summer in there?

[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_01]: It's just very good.

[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I was lying to look at letterbox, but of course I've also ranked or logged things I

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_01]: watched at home that are new.

[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_01]: So I can't like, I can't look at a glance and count them.

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I mean, you know, I guess once a week basically from mid-June to now.

[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_01]: But then I missed a couple weeks, I had a lot of stuff going on and

[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_01]: best like two to a week scenario and then like sort of just lost them momentum

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_01]: and then I'm looking and it's like, I don't really want to see, uh,

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_01]: it ends with us or just pick up with me for it's like, I mean,

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, like exactly what the box office you're just talking about.

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, I don't really want to see any of these things.

[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So I ended up, that's why I did end up seeing Blink twice.

[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Is the most recent movie in theaters.

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And I missed Blink twice.

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I wanted to see it.

[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_02]: That wasn't pretty good.

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_02]: It's pretty good.

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's pretty good.

[00:13:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, everyone else is pretty good that I was skeptical about.

[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, Beetle Gis 2.

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't haven't seen that yet.

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_02]: I kind of forgot about it.

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.

[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_02]: I'll check that out one day.

[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_02]: That's pretty fun.

[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I like it feels like the most energized Tim Burton's been in like 20 years.

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, that's pretty exciting.

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Which is nice.

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_02]: It's pretty cool.

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, yeah, it's a pretty fun time.

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I was pleasantly surprised with Beetle Gis 2.

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, it has been like, uh, you know,

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I think there were a lot of really strong summer offerings this year.

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, you know, it was sort of a transitional year maybe in terms of like what we're expecting

[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_02]: for blockpusters and the future and stuff like that.

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_02]: But like, I really, like, I really enjoyed Twisters.

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I know you weren't as high on as I was, but I really enjoyed that one.

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_02]: It was a fun, really, I really enjoyed that one.

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Really, I really enjoyed that one.

[00:14:20] [SPEAKER_02]: What's that?

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_02]: It was a fun movie going experience.

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_02]: I do wish I could have seen it in 4DX.

[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Everybody who's seen my herd.

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_02]: It's weird because I've only ever heard like bad things with the 40X experience

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_02]: until Twisters came out.

[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_02]: It literally never really is like, oh my god, you got to see this in 40X.

[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_02]: It's whipping your hand all over the planet.

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's been 20 years of never seeing anything in 4DX until now.

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_02]: It turns out the movie, uh, like, if you want to feel like you're in the inside of a tornado,

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_02]: it has to be during Twisters.

[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_02]: You can't work for any other movie.

[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_02]: But I enjoyed Twisters.

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_02]: I think we both like Dillon Romulus, right?

[00:14:55] [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to have fans of that movie.

[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Of course, there was long legs this past summer, which was a really big hit.

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_02]: And we talked about already on the necklace cage season of the podcast,

[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Deadpool and Wolverine, Zoké, was whatever.

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, there was good stuff throughout the summer of 2024.

[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Bad boys, right?

[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Or down.

[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Bad boys, right?

[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Or down.

[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you were on a big bad boy's kick, right?

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that was the movie that I, the first movie I got on my regal unlimited.

[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Because it was really.

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was when they were doing in June was the like,

[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_01]: by three months for the summer, get a fourth one for you, or whatever.

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Right.

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_01]: September free.

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I think that was the first movie I saw in theaters with the past.

[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And then Maxine, what else we got on here?

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Trap, of course, Romulus.

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we saw some stuff.

[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Furiosa.

[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_02]: That's before your regal unlimited kick-down.

[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_02]: But that's May 2024, the case of the summer.

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_02]: King to the planet of the apes.

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there, baby.

[00:15:42] [SPEAKER_02]: There were some good stuff this summer for sure.

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I'm excited to see what the future brings.

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_02]: But I thought maybe it would be more of a piece.

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_01]: That end of the summer low.

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm kind of like, I don't really know right now.

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what to go see.

[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_02]: That's sort of how it feels like a little bit.

[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_02]: But I think that just based on the stuff that I've been seeing

[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_02]: from festivals and stuff,

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I think this is going to be a lot of good stuff coming

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_02]: in the next few months.

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_02]: Really, really curious about Joker 2, which I know you are not.

[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, we got to watch it.

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_02]: We got to go see it.

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_02]: We got to talk about it all though.

[00:16:10] [SPEAKER_02]: It is opening the same weekend as the Montana Film Festival.

[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_02]: So I actually can't go like that weekend.

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Montana Film Festival is never going to end.

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_01]: You're never going to have time to see Joker 2.

[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I think we have to do it, Mike.

[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_02]: The people demand a Joker filet I do episode of Mike McOther movies.

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_02]: But we'll say that for a few weeks from now.

[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'd like to remind everyone if you go to copie.com slash

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Mike and Mike pods and donate $50, you can pick a topic for an episode.

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_02]: That's true.

[00:16:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you can make a swatch at a Joker filet I do.

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And then Mike D. won't have a light to stand on.

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_02]: Or you can pay for dollars to get us to not watch Joker.

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Exense on them.

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_02]: What if we made it like a telefon thing?

[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_02]: We're like, if I raise the most money,

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_02]: we have to watch Joker 2.

[00:16:53] [SPEAKER_02]: And if you raise the most money,

[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_02]: we have to do an episode where we're explicitly not watching Joker 2.

[00:16:58] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we talk about everything but Joker 2.

[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_02]: A lot of options there.

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_02]: But today we're talking about chaos.

[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.

[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_02]: All that to say, Jiff Gouldlbombs and a new thing.

[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_02]: And the IMDB that's an Opsis for chaos reads,

[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_02]: a modern day contemporary retelling of Greek mythology.

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_01]: That's the fucking worst Opsis.

[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_01]: That's over.

[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, a movie and which a story happens.

[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_02]: It's so good.

[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_02]: I think that speaks to how low profile

[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_02]: so many of these Netflix shows have become recent.

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, holy shit.

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_02]: Where it used to be like, yeah, every kind of Netflix show.

[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I was listening to, I think I was listening to blank check.

[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_02]: As I've mentioned many times before,

[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm about 10 months behind in all of my podcasts.

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_02]: So right now, I'm in the David Fincher season of blank check,

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_02]: which was in November 2023.

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_02]: And they were talking about Gong girl, I think.

[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_02]: It was the Gong girl episode and they were talking about

[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_02]: kind of around this time.

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Like David Fincher also started working on House of Cards,

[00:17:57] [SPEAKER_02]: which is kind of the first big Netflix show.

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's a weird thing where there was that like,

[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_02]: a couple of year period of Netflix,

[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_02]: like Netflix TV shows, where it was like,

[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_02]: they're chasing HBO.

[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Like they are supposed to be like a prestige TV network.

[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_02]: They're doing shows like House of Cards

[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_02]: and orange is the new black.

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Lily Hammer.

[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_02]: Lily Hammer exactly.

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Like for a brief period of time,

[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_02]: like a new Netflix series sort of felt like a prestige event.

[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_02]: Like a TV thing that you had to watch.

[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_02]: And it's just not that anymore.

[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_02]: That's a piece.

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Exact opposite of that actually.

[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yeah, there's so much stuff.

[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_02]: You don't really even know what to pay attention to.

[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, you that's kind of just thrown out there.

[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_02]: I was watching actually as if it's recording the Emmys

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_02]: where this past weekend.

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think there was only like one major Netflix show

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_02]: that was not a different thing, which was the crown.

[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Baby reindeer ones, some stuff.

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_02]: That was in the limited series category.

[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_02]: I was more in the comedy drama stuff.

[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_02]: I think the crown is like the only one out of those.

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_02]: But it has been interesting to see like, you know,

[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_02]: when like in 2013, 2014, oh man, House of Cards,

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_02]: nominated every year or just the new black,

[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_02]: nominated every year.

[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Like there was big Netflix shows that were nominated a lot.

[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think even stranger things got in there a few times

[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_02]: and all that kind of stuff.

[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_02]: And he just don't see it anymore.

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't happen as often.

[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's gotten so, uh, I don't know, divided I guess.

[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, the culture we just have turned on it.

[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Our corporate overlords were over.

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_02]: You're done.

[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_02]: All that is to say, I think the premise of the show is pretty cool.

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_02]: I like the idea of it.

[00:19:24] [SPEAKER_02]: And I have not watched the end of the fucking world.

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_02]: So I really don't know that much about like Charlie Coval or

[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_02]: they're, you know, filmmaking styler and like that.

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_02]: But you cast Jeff Goldblum as Zeus.

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm in.

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_02]: That sounds pretty fun.

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_02]: What did you think of Chaos Mike?

[00:19:37] [SPEAKER_02]: What are your overall thoughts on the first episode of the show?

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the first episode I thought was funny.

[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Like when we ended, I had this thought and then I was like,

[00:19:44] [SPEAKER_01]: oh Mike Smith hates this because I thought, yeah that's pretty cute.

[00:19:48] You know?

[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I like, um, yeah, I mean, I did like the idea, the clever idea.

[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I was maybe a little misunderstood on what the, you know,

[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_01]: is set in the modern day thing where I thought it was like the real world

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_01]: and then also the gods but like no having it just be like the Greek myths.

[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_01]: But it is the year 2024.

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Within the Greek myths and having Orfias and you're at a season.

[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, like all the Paritias everybody, what are you listening to the beginning?

[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, just be modern day humans that live in a world where they worship the Greek god

[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_01]: and it's a limpia day.

[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I thought, oh okay, actually that's a little more clever than I thought it was going

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_01]: to be.

[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was going to be about humans like discovering the gods exist or something like that.

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And like no, it's just, it is a mythological world with cell phones and cars and concerts.

[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Like all that stuff.

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_01]: So that was neat.

[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_01]: But I did feel the, you know, it's the first episode stuff, you know, you got to

[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_01]: get a set of table for all the things but so having the balance be a little like weird,

[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_01]: like, you know, yes, I'm loving the the goblum, the mental and best stuff.

[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_01]: That's fun and wacky and weird.

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, with them, like also we got to go do human stuff with Orfias in a really.

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, right?

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And like all those things and Cassandra, I guess is the, right?

[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_01]: The predictions lady.

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so that's fun.

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_01]: It was okay.

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_01]: It's fun.

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_01]: It's, it's also 45 minutes or 456.

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_01]: But some of them are more.

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_01]: Some of them are 56, some are 45.

[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, it's like 45 I can do.

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_01]: 56?

[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.

[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm out.

[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so I watched the first episode thinking that was the assignment.

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_01]: It was just the first episode but of course I should have realized that's half of a movie.

[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_01]: So, so my bad for not watching the second one.

[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_01]: But it does end on a pretty exciting like,

[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_01]: to let the five seconds to play so I can watch the next one right away.

[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_01]: I scrambled it at the back button on my remote and stop that.

[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_01]: Um, but yeah, I was cool.

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_01]: And I was fine.

[00:21:33] [SPEAKER_01]: It is for good stuff.

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_01]: You know?

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_01]: It's all right.

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_02]: It does look like a cheap Netflix show though.

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_02]: It looks very cheap, which is kind of a bummer because, uh, yeah, no, this, I think this

[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_02]: is a fun enough time.

[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_02]: It's, oh, it's, I didn't love it.

[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_02]: But I liked what it was going for and I liked kind of the vibe of it.

[00:21:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, you know, I, so I watched the first two episodes.

[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and yeah, I, I, I think the second one is stronger than the first one.

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, the first one is a lot of table setting.

[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_02]: It's a lot of kind of introducing you to all these characters.

[00:21:58] [SPEAKER_02]: And now even really all of them because like, I, like, you mentioned there's a few of these

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_02]: cast members that I listed off that are like, oh, you didn't even see them.

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_02]: They're short of, yeah.

[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_02]: And so, yeah, it's introducing you to a lot of the major players and kind of introducing you

[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_02]: to the world that it's kind of setting up and all that stuff.

[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_02]: And so, I don't know, based on the first two episodes I've watched.

[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_02]: And I, I think this is a problem with like 95% of streaming shows, uh, today.

[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and I feel like I've probably talked about this in other episodes where we talked about like

[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_02]: streaming series, but like I really miss episodes.

[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I miss episodes of TV shows.

[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I miss what an episode told like a complete story that was part of a larger story,

[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_02]: but like you feel like a full arc within the span of one episode.

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think for a very long time, that's what TV was.

[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And then like as soon as streaming happened and like the binge watching model started

[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_02]: happening, the idea of like the eight hour movie or the ten hour movie kind of came into play.

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_02]: And so every episode just kind of feels like loose and flatby and like there's not like a

[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_02]: structured to it. Like it's just like a lot of stuff that happens or a lot of these streaming

[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_02]: shows cases, not a lot of stuff that happens.

[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_02]: A lot of like wheels spinning while you're waiting for stuff to happen.

[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's the thing where like I'd be surprised how you feel if this, if I don't remember

[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_01]: if Dragon Ball does these things.

[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_01]: Where if you watch a show back then, you realize how much of it when you watch them now

[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_01]: without commercials, how much of it is a thing with a cliffhanger to commercial break.

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Come back from commercial break, spend three minutes explaining what happened before the

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_01]: commercial. I mean, Dragon Ball definitely does this.

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And then three minutes of a new thing and then a commercial break and then three minutes

[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_01]: explaining what happened before the previous group.

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_01]: And you just like, if you actually have the forward momentum, it's like an eight minute thing.

[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like a lot of that stuff happens in these obviously the Netflix episodes don't

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_01]: show you what happened before the commercial break, whatever between episodes.

[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_01]: But like, yes, some stuff will happen. The last 45 seconds are exciting.

[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_01]: So you'll let that five minute, five second timer end and go to right to the next episode

[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_01]: and then something exciting happens at the very end. So you'll go to the next one without much

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_02]: like forward momentum for most of them. Yeah, and then by the time you get to the end of the season,

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_02]: you're like a lot of times you're sort of felt feeling like a little empty, I guess,

[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_02]: because you were kind of, we're sort of tricked into watching the whole thing. Right?

[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_01]: And then it will never be renewed so that cliffhanger at the end of the season will never be

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_01]: explained. And like I was the point of any of this show.

[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I am wondering, I mean, so this is a pretty new Netflix show.

[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_02]: This just came out end of August. So it's been out for like two weeks now.

[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_02]: But I think at this point, they've decided whether or not they're going to renew it or anything.

[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure if it's like designed to be a mini series or if it's meant to be an ongoing thing.

[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure if it's meant to be an ongoing thing, it's meant to be like a two season thing.

[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_02]: Max, just because that's how Netflix tends to operate now.

[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_02]: But they won't tell them until after the second season's finished. Right?

[00:24:33] [SPEAKER_01]: And then that'll never be resolved.

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, exactly. So I don't know. I think these first two episodes are solid. There's some fun stuff in there.

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think the ensemble of they kind of create is pretty fun. Some of the stuff they do with

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_02]: the cast is pretty fun. But it is all over the place. Like, it's just really there's a lot of

[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_02]: different characters. And I feel like I didn't have a firm grasp on a lot of them. I did end on a few

[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_02]: that was pretty into and part of that is that I think Jeff Goldblum, great. So what did you think

[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_02]: of Jeff Goldblum in chaos, Mike? Well, it's funny that you mentioned you grant because now that you

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_02]: saved that, it's sort of see what they were going for like all the time with Zeus. Right? Yes.

[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_01]: 100%. Yeah. It's got a very he-grant manic energy to it. Like, a really nice. His nine months

[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_01]: co-star Hugh Grant. That's right. What across over that would have been. But yeah, I think Goldblum is

[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_01]: really good as he sees. He's like exactly, you know, sarcastic asshole, psychopath that Zeus is.

[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_01]: But like also kind of charming and fun. You know, like it's fun to see Goldblum curse.

[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, throw in Thunderbolt, softman to limpist and all that stuff. What he's angry at them for

[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_01]: actually I don't remember if that's what's happening. When they when they defile his new

[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_01]: statue or whatever at the right, you know, and he's throwing things. So that's that was fun.

[00:25:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And then he's like really really insecure about the the the wheel thing or whatever with the water

[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I forget what that's called that like as long as that is flowing he will rule the gods and like

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_01]: he- I thought I think I saw a blip right? And that whole price is fun. So yeah, I think I think he's doing a good

[00:26:03] [SPEAKER_01]: job and it's neat. And there's going to be another point that I made and maybe it'll come back to me later. But

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_02]: no, that's all fair enough. Yeah, I think Jeff Goldblum is is really fun in this show. It's not really

[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_02]: asking him to like stretch too much. Like he's just doing his Goldblum thing and I think you know that that's fun.

[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Like he's basically oh, it's the grandmaster. It's he and Malcolm. He's just doing that right? But he's having a lot of fun in it

[00:26:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And I think it's a it's a fun like kind of bit of like casting against type sort of thing. We're like, I don't know

[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_02]: I think the popular conception of Zeus might be like the Zeus from Disney's Hercules. Like at this point right like

[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I was gonna say that that was the other point that I was gonna make a couple of things. It's not necessarily really to

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Goldblum specifically, but like the show is definitely like the Zeus of of the mythology of the story like just a

[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_01]: bastard and really fickle and weird and the show like leans into that like having like when Harra shows up

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_01]: it's like you know it does like text on screen and like Harra queen of the gods Zeus's wife

[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_01]: Dean with an asterisk also his sister like you know that's like stuff like that of and I wonder if later on they get into

[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_01]: all the weird shit that these like does or you know episode two has a really fucked up scene that I'll talk about in a

[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_02]: minute. That is I think the best scene in both in both these episodes. Okay, but yeah, no

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_02]: I think yeah the popular conception of Zeus kind of being this like you know big fun to risk King of the gods or whatever

[00:27:22] [SPEAKER_02]: You know like you get like played by rip torn in Disney's Hercules or in other things too, but that's just the one that like

[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_01]: I think you leave Nissan is in clash with the Titans. Yeah, he's playing Zeus in that movie. Yeah

[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_02]: And so yeah, I think having you know Jeff Goldblum kind of with that sort of manic energy that he kind of brings to it

[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Add something to it like a few it feels off-kilter in a pretty solid way. Yeah, he's in a track suit for most of it

[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like they're not he's not in ancient Greece

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_02]: You know Greek robes or anything like that. He's just yeah. He's in a track suit

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's incredibly insecure and vain and he's there's scenes where he's like trying to call all this children

[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_02]: That's his episode two. I think reason trying to call his children and none of them are turning his calls and all that stuff

[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, no, it's it's pretty fun pretty funny and it does feel like you know he is sort of

[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean he's kind of the main character of the show. He's sort of also it's like overall villain maybe

[00:28:15] [SPEAKER_02]: Again there's six episodes of this thing that I have not watched and

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Realistically I mean I enjoyed the first two but probably not gonna get around to it

[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe maybe the cat will enjoy watching it while you're at work or something

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_01]: There we go put it up with the cat and see what he thinks

[00:28:27] [SPEAKER_01]: Got a bump those viewership stats

[00:28:29] [SPEAKER_02]: You know if we want to get this renewing season two, maybe if we want more Jeff Goldblum Netflix projects

[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but yeah, I think Jeff Goldblum is really fun in it. How how do you think this fits into the Goldblum brawls?

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_01]: It was so far Mike. Well, is this is this technically the most authoritative of all the authority figure roles

[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_01]: We've seen he's the king of the gods

[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I guess it must be right

[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_01]: He can't get much higher than that

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I think I think just in terms of performance it is a lot like the the the Goldblum zone or whatever

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Like you mentioned before or so any of the movies from the last 20 years besides the mountain I guess

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_02]: I guess the mountains like the last time he like really like stretched as an actor right where

[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like trying to do something different. Yeah

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember the order of wizard the mountain and that Paul Shrader holocaust

[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_02]: That was about 10 years before the mountain

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_02]: You think of Adam resurrected yes, which I think we're both kind of fans of I mean that movie was is

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Really weird

[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, really interesting I think kind of great performance in Jeff Goldblum. Yeah, no I'm looking at the photography right now and

[00:29:32] [SPEAKER_02]: You know I have to look back on it, but like we did talk about all these movies

[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah after Adam resurrected his next movies are the switch

[00:29:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Which you know whatever yeah, sure morning glory

[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, which hey pretty good

[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Tim and Eric's billion dollar movie where you play a chef Goldblum

[00:29:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Zambeja the animated movie

[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_02]: weekend is kind of the next one where I think yeah, let's go that that's maybe let's do something I think

[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's a different one. Yeah, he's like he's doing he's playing into Jeff Goldblum

[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_02]: The persona I guess but like kind of doing something more with that I think there's a sadness to his performance

[00:30:05] [SPEAKER_01]: That movie and they do the dance from that movie. Yes

[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, yeah from band of outsiders

[00:30:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Grand Budapest Hotel which he's really funny and great, but it's you know

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_02]: That's one of his one of his was Anderson movies mortica

[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_02]: Pop set for like a minute in that movie and then dies independent stay two garden is the galaxy two

[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_02]: Where that's just a closing credits came you know yeah for raggeden rock

[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_02]: I live dogs dress girl falling kingdom hotel Artemis and then the mountain

[00:30:32] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I think in between Adam resurrected in the mountain. I mean he's like great in Thoragged rock

[00:30:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Super fun and all that kind of stuff

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_02]: I think the only time in between there where you get like a little bit of like something more for him to do is late weekend, right?

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah everything besides the other ones that are like a literal look

[00:30:47] [SPEAKER_02]: You know, right? Yes, some of them are like comedy bits some of them are just like you know

[00:30:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Reprising one of his old roles again the pen and stare address girls like that kind of thing

[00:30:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, he's not doing much flexing. You know yeah exactly and so I think that he's not really doing much flexing in this show either

[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_02]: And you know I think if he wanted to he would

[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_02]: I think he's also like I said yeah, I think he's pretty content just kind of be doing his thing now

[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_02]: You know he's Jeff Goldblum. He has his on-screen persona and

[00:31:12] [SPEAKER_02]: That allows him to record jazz albums in between

[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly, and plus I don't even he's he's kind of old not that he's like an old man

[00:31:20] [SPEAKER_01]: But like sure you know he's 70 he's 71

[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so yeah, let him and chill and work for four days on a Netflix show in cash or paycheck

[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_02]: I guess yeah, yes, exactly and so maybe that's what we'll be saying when we see wicked later this year

[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_02]: I do think he is good casting as the worst of us. Yeah, oh, yeah, that's pretty fun

[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_02]: That's a cool idea. I'm really I'm also just man. I really hope that movie's good

[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know I have a big question marks surrounding that one. I don't know how about you yeah

[00:31:50] [SPEAKER_02]: We I know we've talked about it before like how worried we are about this. I'm worried

[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_01]: Well just because like it seems like such a bloated like I don't know somebody said that the runtime of part one movie is longer than the actual

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Play

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_01]: That can't possibly

[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know I the reported runtime. I don't know whatever

[00:32:08] [SPEAKER_02]: But I get what you mean they they I don't mission to cut into two movies

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_02]: That that seems insane to me

[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_02]: I have seen wicked on Broadway and it's a it's a really fantastic production

[00:32:18] [SPEAKER_02]: But I do think it's a very frontloaded one where a lot of the best songs are in the first half

[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_02]: So we could part one could be great could be really could be really fun

[00:32:25] [SPEAKER_02]: But then I'd be worried about we could part two or it's like, oh, I don't do I just do to find gravity again

[00:32:29] [SPEAKER_02]: What are we what are you doing

[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I don't know sure what whatever. It'll be fine. Can't we yeah?

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_02]: You know we got we gotta hope. I mean we got to talk about it. It's Jeff going to the end Michelle. Yeah, there's no getting around it

[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_02]: So I'm just I'm fingers crossed like the there's some kind of on an ounce cameo from Jeff Goldland and Joker too

[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_02]: We're like

[00:32:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I quit

[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna good

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_01]: Almost 10 years, but yeah, this is this this the straw the bricks to camel back

[00:32:59] [SPEAKER_02]: All right any scenes in chaos that you want to talk about my game any random bits that you want to talk about in the show

[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I think there's a weird thing also sort of like with the tone that I wanted to mention

[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Really weird thing but like I said with the when it like when Hera is introduced and I think when the

[00:33:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I think all like main characters in the first episode they like put their name and text on screen right?

[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's and then

[00:33:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So there's already a weird like fourth wall thing going on and then when Prometheus shows up who's been narrating the episode

[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, actually in from game of throw-ons who's like a pelican like his picking out is an eagle mic

[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, sorry

[00:33:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's literally being eaten by an eagle because he stole fire from the gods. Come on. Right. Are you a group with all that you guys just have to kill your ass

[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_01]: Not like super into it, but like just has have gone to college for English sure

[00:33:43] [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, it's come up. It's come up

[00:33:46] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was very into it when I was like 10

[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Partially because I love Disney's virtually so much

[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I got into it, but yeah

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_02]: But I haven't like been really into it in a long time

[00:33:56] [SPEAKER_02]: So like a lot of it's like oh, yeah, I remember that name I remember a kind of like a vague thing about that story

[00:34:00] [SPEAKER_02]: But it's like a lot of it's kind of blurry. Yeah, I actually had that

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I guess spoiler alert for Greek mythology, but when

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_01]: You're just when you're deceased is like the main human character. He's like pretty sure she's the one like that dies and her husband goes to the underworld together

[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_01]: And like he looks back at the last time isn't that her and then she dies like like wait a second

[00:34:18] [SPEAKER_01]: She's supposed to die and then she gets hit by the car. I was like oh, yeah

[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's neat, but what was I gonna say? Oh, so it's got this weird like fourth wall thing with the text on screen

[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Then like I said like the ding also his sister, right? Yeah for Hera

[00:34:32] [SPEAKER_01]: But then so a Prometheus actually shows up as a character outside of just being an narrator and he's like doing the flea bank thing

[00:34:39] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like look at the camera

[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like, wow, whatever. You know, it's like huh, this is strange and nobody else has done that in the first episode

[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_01]: He's the only one that does that yeah, so I wonder how much that changes or whatever

[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_01]: But it's strange that he's the he's the guy there. They let it address the fact that it's the TV show

[00:34:55] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean he he also does the episode two

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_02]: And nobody else does so yeah, I think he's just the guy who does it

[00:35:01] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, and I didn't enjoy the Prometheus scenes like I liked his dynamic with Zeus also where

[00:35:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Like everyone's noiles Zeus would kind of snap him back like from his chains

[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah from his eternal punishment. Yeah, you know in order to gain his advice and then he'll just snap him back there and

[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_02]: Usually just ignore the advice

[00:35:18] [SPEAKER_02]: But but there's always acting as if like he and Prometheus are like good friends if he's like basically like not even aware that like Prometheus is like being eternally torment

[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah

[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_01]: It's so weird. That's a that's a fun little thing they got I don't know that's a cool dynamic I guess

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so yeah, I wanted to highlight that I thought the

[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Stuff with Hera listening to the secrets is pretty good and in weird and creepy and

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting you know just like as a visual thing we're like that huge filing cabinet and what it's all that stuff in it

[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, they got some clever stuff going on for the

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_01]: blending of the modern day and the Greek mythology stuff like a goblins watch

[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Being a good luck charm from hercules or whatever it is fun. It's fun. Yeah, no absolutely

[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna highlight a couple of things. Maybe so too as well

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_02]: And I mentioned before there's a supremely fucked up scene that I really really enjoy

[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's the best scene in the whole in these first two episodes and it's this moment where you see Zeus

[00:36:13] [SPEAKER_02]: Sleeping with this woman on earth like he's sleeping like sleeping with you know

[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_02]: As Zeus was want to do in Greek mythology just you know sleeping with like humans and all that kind of stuff

[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_02]: And this woman is like having his baby

[00:36:25] [SPEAKER_02]: And there's moments like they have just had sex and like the doorbell rings as you go to answer it

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_02]: And it zoos there in a shift-gold event. She thinks for a second like oh

[00:36:33] [SPEAKER_02]: Very funny, but it turns out the person she just had sex with was Hera disguised as Zeus okay

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_02]: And then Hera like accelerates the pregnancy

[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_02]: That the woman has has the baby like a meet like the like in the first omen like in the first omen

[00:36:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but he actually happened like in real time

[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, so like she goes through like nine months of pregnancy in the span of like five seconds and like birds the baby and then Hera forces Zeus to kill the baby

[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_02]: You see like Jeff Goldblum like snap a baby's neck

[00:37:03] [SPEAKER_02]: Damn and it's pretty messed up. It's pretty cool. That's a lot of the first episode has none of that energy

[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_02]: Right

[00:37:09] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that was the moment where I was like the show might have something here. It's pretty messed up

[00:37:15] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure if it's like it's like a pleasant something but there's something you're something going on

[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_02]: So I've had that scene was like a pretty indicative thing of like the kind of show it wants to be and it was

[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Pretty solid and yeah, it's very like funny and dark and weird

[00:37:28] [SPEAKER_02]: And I enjoyed that and yeah, oh and that woman also it like gets turned into a bee and is then like put into Hera's like

[00:37:35] [SPEAKER_02]: She has like a whole like beekeeper colony

[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and so there's like tens of thousands of bees that are all women that Zeus has slept with as she is then turned into bees

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Wild so yeah, it's pretty wild so they do get into some like real Greek god punty

[00:37:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Stuff right which is pretty fun

[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_02]: So I like that and then also wanted to mention there's a sort of like talent show portion thing that happens

[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_02]: So it's Odysseus or Orphus who is you know, riddy's husband or riddy's boyfriend or whatever

[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_02]: Who's trying to bring her back from the dead and so Dionysus like brings him to this like you know

[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_02]: CD bar in the middle of nowhere where the fates are like basically making people compete for the chance to bring someone back from the dead

[00:38:18] [SPEAKER_02]: And so it's sort of like American idol ask competition where like if you sing the best or if you do this or whatever and Eddie is or Susie asard is the

[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_02]: One who is like the leader of the fates

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_02]: And that's episode two and it's you kind of just watching them jump through hoops to get through to get that and

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_01]: That was pretty fun. I enjoyed that too. That's neat. Yeah, that's a pretty clever like modernization of that idea

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, so it's pretty cool

[00:38:43] [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I mean it's it's weird like like I kind of said like it's an Netflix show that like I think it's pretty solid

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_02]: It's not something that I and like super invested in I could see myself maybe watching more of it

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_02]: But who has the time you know

[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's the thing I had mentioned before we started recording that a friend of mine was like oh

[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna watch you have to watch that chaos thing and I was like oh, yeah

[00:39:03] [SPEAKER_01]: I gotta watch for the podcast but like I'm not really sure when you know whatever and then I just watched it without him

[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Even though he wanted to watch it and

[00:39:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I was like oh, this will be the perfect thing for him to put on in the background of work for two days and

[00:39:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Watch like you know and and watch it that way

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_02]: You know that's sort of like it's you know and so many Netflix shows

[00:39:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah so many Netflix shows are designed to be a show where it's like oh if I go on my phone for ten minutes and look back up

[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_02]: I won't have missed anything right

[00:39:32] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I can still follow it along and I and I felt like chaos with one of those shows which you know is a little bit

[00:39:39] [SPEAKER_02]: TV out right now, but you know I think Netflix is producing very little love

[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_02]: There are still good Netflix shows when we talk we say it all there's always exceptions and stuff because they make so much stuff like

[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Everyone's the wild something's gonna hit something's good, you know, but yeah and speaking of

[00:39:56] [SPEAKER_02]: You know rebel ridge just came out both huge fans of that. Yeah. Yes, baby

[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_02]: I'm excited. So Sony is back. Yeah, not a TV show. It's an Netflix original movie, but you know both big fans of it

[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_02]: It's it's cool to see yeah, they just announced a new

[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_01]: Animated I think which are movie I think okay, that's supposed to drop early in next year

[00:40:14] [SPEAKER_01]: But we all know they're absolutely gonna cancel that show as soon as they can

[00:40:17] [SPEAKER_01]: I think this is the last I think whenever the next one comes out

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_01]: It's the last Henry Caval season and then the one after that is the the him-hem-zard season

[00:40:25] [SPEAKER_02]: Well, the Henry Caval the last Henry Caval season still isn't happened yet

[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_02]: Because the writer strike shit like it through cheese

[00:40:31] [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like everything up. I feel like we've been here to bad it for so long

[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think they're shooting in last year and then the strike and all that I think so I don't know if I don't think that's out yet

[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And if it is I've missed it which is crazy

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because you're a big what your guy big wich or guy even though that shows like I will see

[00:40:45] [SPEAKER_01]: But I was gonna say there the the movie the new Animated movie they just announced or I think it's a movie is exciting

[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Because it's the voice of Geralt from the game is voicing Geralt in this animated thing

[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's exciting, but like what are we doing? Come on

[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_02]: I would just like so if they made less shows that were of better quality

[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be a better investment for them. I don't know that's all they have that would expose how little content

[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_01]: They have licensing too

[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_01]: Because when this all happened whatever one realized fucking Netflix like I make my own thing

[00:41:14] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean it's the weird website will be empty we have to make up

[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_02]: I mean that is the weird thing with Apple TV

[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_02]: Which is is a streaming service that I think has made a lot of very good shows like that

[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_02]: They have a lot of like really really good TV shows a couple of like pretty bad movies

[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_02]: But it really got a lot of really good shows that they never advertise

[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_02]: They're like don't tell people they exist

[00:41:35] [SPEAKER_02]: But if you look through like the Apple TV, you know library

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_02]: They don't have much other than their own shows like the shows they have bangers

[00:41:43] [SPEAKER_02]: You know right I mean obviously they had Ted Lasse or that would they're big thing

[00:41:46] [SPEAKER_02]: But you know for all mankind is phenomenal

[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_02]: Severance is coming back pretty soon. I'm not watching yet, but I've heard good things

[00:41:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Like that kind of thing a slow horse is just one of few emis and that's a nice net love

[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_02]: Do they the first people I know that have watched slow horse?

[00:42:00] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's like this shit rocks

[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Like well I've heard it's great. It's like four seasons deep now

[00:42:05] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and like nobody knows about

[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, no, there's a lot of like really good stuff in Apple TV

[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_02]: But they never market their shows so nobody knows about it mean while Netflix also like never markets their show

[00:42:16] [SPEAKER_02]: But somehow people know about them like you hear about Netflix shows sometimes

[00:42:20] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's truly have that top 10 thing that's 100% fake right?

[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean it's mostly just there to like advertise what they now have on the surface

[00:42:28] [SPEAKER_02]: That's that's what it's there for it's gotta be

[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_01]: I think every quarter every six months or something they have to report their viewership numbers or some shit now

[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_02]: Right now they do because the because of the writer strike. Yeah, that was one of the things so

[00:42:40] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know I mean the industry is constantly changing especially the streaming

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_02]: Services so who knows like two years we might be like man Netflix a bastion of great original content

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, right and but I mean we wouldn't say the words content, but other people would

[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_01]: More likely will be like man remember when there is a power grid or we can watch Netflix

[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Now I retell episodes of chaos by the fire

[00:43:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah

[00:43:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Gold looms cave. It's not not played as cave or whatever it is

[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_02]: God yeah, all right any other thoughts about cast by before I press up

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh

[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a word that we haven't talked about chaos that much

[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean I've watched 45 minutes of it so I don't really have to turn to say

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_01]: But I think I think you know if they're doing that the go to the underworld to save

[00:43:34] [SPEAKER_01]: really storyline it could be interesting. I don't think the orfias in the first episode was enough of like the main character

[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_01]: It's definitely much more about

[00:43:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Realize life. Yeah, to have scenario to have orfias be the guy that has to go save her if that's what they do

[00:43:48] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and there's a lot of her in episode two also because you see her in the underworld

[00:43:52] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh really okay. Yes, I guess he was a guy right who is like

[00:43:56] [SPEAKER_02]: David through us who yeah pops up and like a it's sort of like an orientation video for the underworld

[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_02]: That's pretty funny it's pretty good

[00:44:03] [SPEAKER_02]: I hope you'll keep watching that show

[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_01]: Like in this you think it's eight episodes there 40 to 50 minutes long

[00:44:09] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like it's not a huge commitment to just be like oh, maybe I'll watch one or two of these every now and then and then slowly finish it

[00:44:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Right, but uh, or I'll do the thing like everybody else and watch the first two three episodes and then never finish it because we're gonna

[00:44:21] [SPEAKER_01]: That entirely yeah exactly

[00:44:24] [SPEAKER_02]: Not anyway chaos with the cat anyway chaos and there won't be any letter box reviews this week because it's a TV show

[00:44:31] [SPEAKER_02]: So I actually didn't check sometimes TV shows are on letter box

[00:44:34] [SPEAKER_02]: You know what it means here each type shows and things like that

[00:44:37] [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't check because I don't know if it's gonna be a mini series or if it's one season thing or two season or whatever

[00:44:42] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it doesn't matter to me. We're not doing letter box reviews for this

[00:44:47] [SPEAKER_02]: Which really means there's no so there's no poetic critic review for this one

[00:44:51] [SPEAKER_02]: Right, yeah, but we're about to record episode of the brace out of podcast there is a

[00:44:57] [SPEAKER_02]: Poitacritic review for the brace out of the movie we were about to talk about whoa season

[00:45:01] [SPEAKER_02]: Season crossover exactly. Yeah, so you know when you get to that in a few weeks

[00:45:05] [SPEAKER_02]: I won't spoil which movie it is leave the surprise for the viewer. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but

[00:45:11] [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Poitacritic poem coming up pretty soon on the podcast
