This week, it's time for a Mike Makes Mike Watch! Because Mike D is such a big fan of EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE, Smith is making him watch the Daniels' debut feature, SWISS ARMY MAN! Meanwhile, Mike D is making Smith catch up with one of the better animated movies in the last few years, PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH!
[00:00:00] Let's get together talk about the movies that we saw this week. We'll have discussions,
[00:00:05] talk film news, we'll laugh a lot and act like Jesus.
[00:00:07] I was all head on guest or two sometimes it's just the two of us.
[00:00:09] I'll expect some jokes and tell some folks to come along and hang with us!
[00:00:12] I can't buy, go To The Movies, I can't buy, go To The Movies, yeah!
[00:00:24] You will have chosen wise.
[00:00:28] If you don't know Jurassic Park, you don't know shit.
[00:00:31] Might as well be this podcast catchphrase.
[00:00:32] It's Mike and Mike Go To The Movies.
[00:00:34] I'm Mike Smith and join me as always.
[00:00:36] It's a man I'm out to sing a song about your favorite fearless hero.
[00:00:39] Mike, to appreciate it.
[00:00:40] How's your day Mike?
[00:00:41] I'm doing just great.
[00:00:43] Yeah, that was like a foundational moment in the movie for me.
[00:00:47] That's when they said that.
[00:00:49] I was like is this, is this me?
[00:00:52] Is this my life that I'm watching on screen?
[00:00:54] Like I'm in the movie?
[00:00:56] Right, yeah what's going on Mike?
[00:00:58] What's been going on?
[00:00:59] Not a whole lot hanging out.
[00:01:00] Ready to talk some fun movies.
[00:01:02] I was like nervous for a second earlier in the weekend before we started, you know,
[00:01:07] couple of days before recording and I was one forgot what movie had to watch and didn't
[00:01:10] text you about it.
[00:01:11] I think it's this one.
[00:01:12] It'll just be funny if it's not.
[00:01:14] And then two, I was like before that I was like man, I had discussions.
[00:01:17] I haven't watched anything.
[00:01:18] I got to watch so but then the wave of relief rolled over me.
[00:01:21] I was like oh it's just one movie I have to watch.
[00:01:23] I love when that happens.
[00:01:25] Yeah, as we talked about before, whenever there's discussions you always get stressed out
[00:01:30] about it.
[00:01:31] Could you feel like you have to watch a bunch of stuff?
[00:01:32] It's like I got a study for the test.
[00:01:34] Is how I feel, you know?
[00:01:36] And for me discussions are like the easiest episodes.
[00:01:38] Like I don't know what I've been watching the last few weeks just toss them in there.
[00:01:41] Yeah.
[00:01:42] Yeah, Mike makes Mike watches weirdly are the ones that stress me out more because there's
[00:01:46] something very specific that I have to watch in a very short amount of time.
[00:01:50] Yeah, yeah.
[00:01:51] Well you have your rotation schedule.
[00:01:54] You got your very planned man.
[00:01:55] I do try to plan it out.
[00:01:57] Yeah, I feel like those plans have gone by the wayside in recent years and I actually
[00:02:00] tried to bring that back.
[00:02:01] I have a rotation now.
[00:02:03] You do.
[00:02:04] It's back.
[00:02:05] Oh yeah, the rotation is back of the various things I'm watching.
[00:02:08] That's it.
[00:02:09] So it's over for us bitches because Mike's got the rotation back.
[00:02:12] Exactly.
[00:02:13] However, the rotation can be disrupted at any time by stuff I have to watch for the podcast
[00:02:16] that's the thing.
[00:02:17] And so but the rotation has served me pretty well so far this year.
[00:02:22] I got to watch the win rises and who's that knock on my door, what a picture that was
[00:02:26] and all that stuff in a lonely place.
[00:02:28] I'm trying to sneak a discussions in the beginning of this episode.
[00:02:32] I see what you're doing.
[00:02:33] These are all movies have already talked about in discussions.
[00:02:35] Okay.
[00:02:36] Fine.
[00:02:37] Yeah, I know today is a Mike makes Mike watch.
[00:02:39] We were talking about two movies and only two movies.
[00:02:43] So help me get on.
[00:02:45] Yeah.
[00:02:46] So we do these once a month.
[00:02:47] I make Mike watch something that he's never seen.
[00:02:49] He makes me watch something that I've never seen.
[00:02:52] And today I make Mike D watch 2016's Swiss Army man while he's making me watch 2022's
[00:02:58] Pussin Boots, the last wish.
[00:03:01] Same level of cinema.
[00:03:02] Yeah, honestly.
[00:03:03] Yeah.
[00:03:04] Yeah.
[00:03:05] I pretty much put them right up there in that can neck.
[00:03:08] Yeah.
[00:03:09] So which one of these movies would you like to talk about first, Mike?
[00:03:12] Man, trying to picture this double feature in any kind of cohesive way is pretty tough.
[00:03:17] But I think there are three lines potentially between them.
[00:03:20] Let's do that.
[00:03:21] Let's do Swiss Army man first.
[00:03:23] Okay, all right.
[00:03:24] Let's do it.
[00:03:25] It's time for a Mike makes Mike watch.
[00:03:47] What?
[00:03:57] Hey.
[00:04:17] First picks it's time.
[00:04:19] I need you to help me get home.
[00:04:21] Okay, buddy?
[00:04:25] Okay, buddy.
[00:04:27] Yeah!
[00:04:31] You're in the air, Colin.
[00:04:35] I'm just hallucinating from Starvation.
[00:04:42] You're special.
[00:04:44] You're special.
[00:04:47] I can't believe I'm alive.
[00:04:52] And there's seven billion people on the planet.
[00:04:55] You might be lucky enough to bump into the one person you want to spend the rest of your life with.
[00:05:02] Oh my God.
[00:05:06] So this is the life I forgot?
[00:05:11] This is Jeff's The Beginner.
[00:05:18] I'm a man.
[00:05:26] All right, it's time for Mike Makes Mike Watch and that was in the trailer for Swiss Army Man from 2016,
[00:05:31] directed by the Daniels in starring Paul Dana and Daniel Radcliffe.
[00:05:36] So Mike D, I think the reason I wanted to make you watch this movie is that this is a movie that I really really loved.
[00:05:43] I saw it in 2016 when it came out.
[00:05:45] I believe it was my number three movie of that year.
[00:05:47] It was very high up on my top 10 list, number three behind La La Land and the Nice Guys were my one and two, I think.
[00:05:56] If I were making that list today, nice guys would probably be number one.
[00:06:01] But yeah, Swiss Army Man was very high up there for me.
[00:06:03] I really, really loved this movie.
[00:06:04] I have not seen it since then.
[00:06:07] So it's been seven years since you looked at me.
[00:06:13] It's been seven years since I've watched this movie.
[00:06:16] I have not seen it since theaters and yeah, I just wanted to see how you would react to it,
[00:06:21] especially because you're such a huge fan of the Daniels follow-up film.
[00:06:24] Everything everywhere all at once, which of course won Best Picture of the Osperse couple years ago was a big centerpiece of the complete works.
[00:06:31] That was part of the Michelle Yo season and that was your number one movie of 2022, I believe.
[00:06:37] Yes, it was.
[00:06:38] Yeah, definitely a big fan of that movie.
[00:06:41] I don't know why I never got around to Swiss Army Man.
[00:06:43] I mean, I guess when it first came out, it was definitely a bigger ask to have watched it.
[00:06:49] Smaller names, smaller profile at the time, very weird premise in movie and from everything I heard about it,
[00:06:55] the farting corpse movie, kind of thing.
[00:06:58] I was like, I don't know, yes, sure, I'm sure it's fine even though I know you're a big fan of it.
[00:07:02] And then I don't know what it was that maybe not go back to it after everything everywhere all at once fever hit.
[00:07:09] I'm glad you did make me watch it.
[00:07:10] Yeah, so what do you think of Swiss Army Man, Mike?
[00:07:13] Pretty good.
[00:07:14] I mean, it's so weird.
[00:07:15] I think it was really uneven for me, the first half-ish.
[00:07:19] Okay.
[00:07:20] You can see all the Daniels stuff, right?
[00:07:22] Right away, at the beginning of its opens with Paul Dano,
[00:07:27] Stranded on an island is going to hang himself and he looks out onto the shoreline
[00:07:31] and sees the corpse of Daniel Radcliffe wash up.
[00:07:34] And then he's doing the farting thing.
[00:07:36] And it turns into him riding Daniel Radcliffe's farting corpse like a jet ski
[00:07:41] off of this deserted island.
[00:07:42] And I was like, this is definitely Daniels.
[00:07:44] Yeah, this feels very similar to everything everywhere, absolutely, which is very funny.
[00:07:51] But then it becomes this weird thing, of course, you know,
[00:07:55] how much of this is him imagining what's happening Paul Dano's character?
[00:08:00] He is so shocked at the beginning of the movie when he sees Daniel Radcliffe's corpse
[00:08:05] that he falls off the cooler he's standing on and does hang himself
[00:08:09] and the rope snaps.
[00:08:11] But I had just listened to an episode of new movies that made me where they started talking about
[00:08:18] the occurrence at Alokreeke Bridge episode of Twilight Zone,
[00:08:22] which is about a guy who is hanged during Civil War and the rope snaps
[00:08:25] and he runs all the way home and it's this whole thing only to reveal it to very last second
[00:08:29] because this is all a dream as he's falling while being right.
[00:08:32] So I was like, are we going to do that?
[00:08:34] Is that what this is going to be?
[00:08:35] Because the rope that he does fall out, he does start to hang himself.
[00:08:38] So I don't know, that's just a whole other thought.
[00:08:41] But yeah, it was kind of uneven.
[00:08:43] I wasn't super into it even when Daniel Radcliffe comes alive and then it's them.
[00:08:47] His erection is a compass and that's how they're getting out of the forest.
[00:08:52] It is funny, absolutely.
[00:08:54] But I just wasn't engaged with it until the moment in the movie
[00:08:58] that fall down the hill from the bear.
[00:09:00] They're being chased by a bear and Daniel Radcliffe sees Mary Lizard Winston,
[00:09:04] which is hilarious as the phone background.
[00:09:06] And thinks that's his wife or girlfriend from when he was alive.
[00:09:09] And so it's Paul Dano constructing this elaborate DIY bus and restaurant
[00:09:17] and they're reenacting scenes together of their life
[00:09:20] and they're falling in love with each other.
[00:09:23] I don't know, like that whole sequence and montage
[00:09:25] of the song where Daniel Radcliffe is singing and he's like,
[00:09:28] we just needed a montage.
[00:09:30] He's just talking about what they're doing in the movie in the song, which is very funny.
[00:09:34] And so yeah, once that stuff started happening
[00:09:36] and it had more of like, I don't want to say purpose.
[00:09:39] I feel like the other stuff at the beginning is just kind of like goofy and weird.
[00:09:43] And then this is like the exuberant life-affirming weirdness of everything everywhere
[00:09:48] all at once.
[00:09:49] You can see all of that stuff here.
[00:09:51] And then I was like in.
[00:09:52] I was on the wavelength again.
[00:09:54] Halfway through the movie I was like, huh, I lean forward and steeple my fingers.
[00:09:57] You know, it's like that kind of thing.
[00:09:59] So I ended up having a lot of fun in the back half of the movie
[00:10:01] and then the insanity of them ending up in the backyard of Elizabeth Winstead
[00:10:06] or very Elizabeth Winstead and then all that stuff is very funny.
[00:10:09] Shane Karuth is in there, which is very weird.
[00:10:11] He's like a corner.
[00:10:12] I thought about that.
[00:10:13] For like one second and I was like, that's a strange choice
[00:10:16] in retrospect now that he's a bad guy.
[00:10:20] So yeah, I ended up being really into the movie.
[00:10:24] But it was a struggle for me at the beginning as well, I guess I'll say.
[00:10:27] Okay, fair enough.
[00:10:28] Yeah, I think that's...
[00:10:29] I think that is kind of the case with the move.
[00:10:31] It feels like a movie that a lot of people are going to struggle with.
[00:10:34] But I remember seeing it.
[00:10:36] I mean, I saw in theaters.
[00:10:37] I believe I actually saw it with Kyle Cullen, our editor-in-chief music supervisor
[00:10:41] who is editing this podcast right now.
[00:10:43] So maybe he can chime in if he wants to.
[00:10:45] You don't have to Kyle, but if you want to, you can.
[00:10:47] I will chime in real quick.
[00:10:49] This was my favorite movie of that year.
[00:10:51] It was the weirdest, most bizarre yet life-affirming movie I had ever watched
[00:10:57] and I absolutely adored it.
[00:10:59] But I believe we were both like pretty into it early on.
[00:11:02] Like I think it is just like it's pretty funny early on.
[00:11:04] And so that kind of helped.
[00:11:05] Yeah.
[00:11:06] But it is like one of those things where it's like how far can this premise go?
[00:11:10] You know, where the idea...
[00:11:11] It's a two-hander with Paul Daniel and Daniel Radcliffe.
[00:11:14] Daniel Radcliffe as a corpse who you think is not going to talk during the movie.
[00:11:20] He's a dead body.
[00:11:21] And then eventually he does start talking, like in really like pained corpse-like zombie.
[00:11:27] Yeah, like sort of like zombie-esque or whatever.
[00:11:29] I think it's a really amazing performance from Daniel Radcliffe.
[00:11:32] I watched...
[00:11:33] So I was watching the movie and he's got like his jaw is a little misaligned,
[00:11:38] you know?
[00:11:39] And his one eye is droopy like the eyelid.
[00:11:42] You know what I'm saying?
[00:11:43] And I downloaded it, it had the featureettes that had to behind the scenes thing in it.
[00:11:48] And it's like you know the big 16 minute like making of thing.
[00:11:51] Yeah.
[00:11:52] And it had some like outtakes and Daniel Radcliffe is just doing that with his face.
[00:11:56] That was one of those like the craft of acting moments for me.
[00:11:59] It was like this is insane.
[00:12:01] How is he keeping his eyelid like that while having just...
[00:12:03] And then like somebody flubs the line and his face goes back to normal.
[00:12:06] And he's like, oh sorry guys hold on.
[00:12:08] Can we start over?
[00:12:09] It's like what?
[00:12:10] This isn't same.
[00:12:11] I don't know.
[00:12:12] Anyway.
[00:12:13] Yeah.
[00:12:14] This was you know Daniel Radcliffe somebody who obviously was Harry Potter.
[00:12:18] He played Harry Potter and he was the titular Harry Potter.
[00:12:22] But out of that franchise, I think he is the one who has made like the weirdest choices
[00:12:27] after those movies.
[00:12:29] And I think has resulted in some of my favorite performances.
[00:12:32] I mean you have this movie Swiss Armyman but just was it last year or two years ago,
[00:12:37] weird The Allianque Vic movie where he plays Weird Al.
[00:12:40] Incredible.
[00:12:41] Very very very good.
[00:12:42] I really love seeing him on that and I feel like he experiments and does like weirder stuff.
[00:12:47] You know Emma Watson I think has like popped up in like various other things like other roles.
[00:12:51] And like you know she's a very good actress and the group regret finally showed up again and not
[00:12:55] get the cap in and he was pretty good in that.
[00:12:57] Well he's been on that TV show that the other damn nice Shyamalan show servant.
[00:13:02] Servant yeah.
[00:13:03] So he got into a Shyamalan and that's pretty cool.
[00:13:05] Yeah that's pretty neat.
[00:13:06] And otherwise I think her big rent like bought an ice cream truck and it's just like an ice cream guy in London.
[00:13:10] Right?
[00:13:11] Like that's his thing.
[00:13:12] I mean it's one of these people.
[00:13:13] Yes.
[00:13:14] Why would you not be?
[00:13:15] That's what I would do.
[00:13:16] Yeah absolutely.
[00:13:17] But I feel like Radcliffe has followed like the Elijah Wood route of like, okay post Lord of the Rings.
[00:13:21] I'm going to go star in like Wilfred on FX.
[00:13:23] You know like that's like yeah.
[00:13:25] Yeah.
[00:13:26] It just didn't Danny Radcliffe have some weird TV show.
[00:13:28] I mean he's in a couple weird TV shows I think but yeah.
[00:13:31] I mean he's a he's a voice role on the show Mulligan which is an animated apocalypse show.
[00:13:37] Sure.
[00:13:38] Yeah sure.
[00:13:39] Yeah he's popped up in a few things.
[00:13:40] Dig man he's on dig man.
[00:13:42] I'm looking at his thing.
[00:13:43] Oh miracle workers I think it might be what you're thinking of maybe there's like a TBS show.
[00:13:47] Yeah I think that isn't it.
[00:13:48] Yeah.
[00:13:49] It was Daniel Radcliffe and oh Steve Bouchammy was on it.
[00:13:52] Yes.
[00:13:53] Yeah he just does like weird shit and it's cool to see.
[00:13:55] It's nice.
[00:13:56] You made as much money as like human can possibly make on like the biggest franchise of all time.
[00:14:01] And now you can just kick back and do like experiments.
[00:14:03] Do weird stuff with your art.
[00:14:05] Yeah.
[00:14:06] Do whatever you want.
[00:14:07] And yeah and in this movie it really shows it's like just like a fearless performance.
[00:14:10] Like yeah it's like the only way to describe what he's doing.
[00:14:13] Just farting all the time you know.
[00:14:15] Yes.
[00:14:16] Yeah it's nothing but farts and boners.
[00:14:18] And yeah and that's it's a gunner rub some people the wrong way.
[00:14:23] But I think if you're on its wavelength the movie does like ultimately become like a sort of life affirming thing.
[00:14:29] Right?
[00:14:30] Like that's kind of what it ultimately builds to and it really does feel of a piece with everything everywhere all at once.
[00:14:36] Like it's like thematically hitting a lot of the same territory.
[00:14:38] We're also doing a lot of the same like gross gags that everybody has.
[00:14:42] And it's so interesting to me that like this movie you know was I think a pretty well light hit
[00:14:48] like when it came out like you know hit in a broad sense like critics for the most part liked it.
[00:14:53] It played at the Sundance film festival.
[00:14:55] One looking award there.
[00:14:56] I didn't really get any kind of like major awards buzz you know didn't get any Oscar nominations or anything like that.
[00:15:02] And it's so weird that like six years later the Daniels come back with a second movie.
[00:15:06] Sweeps the Oscars.
[00:15:07] Right.
[00:15:08] And it's a very similar movie I think.
[00:15:10] Yeah yeah definitely has I think one of the most interesting like aesthetic carryovers between the two movies is the like DIY.
[00:15:17] Feel to it like especially in Swiss Army man because they're in the woods.
[00:15:22] Right.
[00:15:23] And it also has like a weirdly environmentalist subtone to it or whatever because everything that fall
[00:15:30] Dano builds to like constructed this like world where they're going to act out.
[00:15:33] It's like garbage that they're finding in the woods like it's all about like you know it's all the like plastic bottles and pizza boxes
[00:15:40] and Ellis trash and that builds into the theme of like Daniel Rackl a manny that corpse feeling like am I garbage.
[00:15:47] Is that why I'm thrown out?
[00:15:48] It's this like whole thing and it's like what is going on.
[00:15:50] And then yeah also in everything everywhere all at once like you think about the sequences that are like prime wayman
[00:15:57] or whatever his that guy's like in the future he's in the RV and it's like clearly like you know like egg crate
[00:16:03] and stuff like that all look like to make it look like sci-fi stuff and like springs and things.
[00:16:08] It's like there's a vibe between the aesthetic between both movies that they definitely share.
[00:16:13] Yes absolutely this is also pretty early on like in the indie lifespan of A24
[00:16:18] I think this is like kind of a key movie and like then becoming a bigger thing you know.
[00:16:22] Yeah absolutely.
[00:16:23] And I definitely remember that being part of the like the kind of that like wave of like oh man this is some good movies here.
[00:16:30] Like you know they it was like this moonlight came out that same year which is a you know obviously also a big one.
[00:16:37] Yeah but yeah I mean that that year like you look at like 2015 2016 the A24 lineup you have room and you have the witch
[00:16:45] and you have green room and you have the lobster and Swiss Army man and American honey and moonlight
[00:16:51] and 20th century women and like man there's some bangers here.
[00:16:54] This is a weird movie.
[00:16:55] What was 2017 hereditary or 2018?
[00:16:58] 2018 was hereditary.
[00:17:00] I think by the time hereditary comes out like they're pretty well established at that point.
[00:17:04] Like it's still a big like like it's wow that that movie became as big of a hit as it was and I think that was because of like you know the reputation they had built up a little bit over that time.
[00:17:12] But then yeah hereditary like you know they've been able to launch careers at A24 and like really interesting filmmakers
[00:17:18] could start their careers there which is cool.
[00:17:20] The Daniels, Ariaster, Greta Gerwig had Lady Bird there and all that stuff so yeah neat.
[00:17:26] Yeah and yeah I think ultimately I'm positive on the BV but that first I don't know 30 or 45 minutes or whatever I was like man that sucks.
[00:17:34] Like I was just so sad that I was not going to like lock in with the movie and then I did and I don't know what it was and it's just like holy shit.
[00:17:43] I'm glad you did we should talk about the ending of the movie also because so so we're you have to refresh your memory on some of this stuff Mike.
[00:17:50] But so Mary Elizabeth Winstead does pop up like in a scene towards the end of the movie for real.
[00:17:55] I thought that was going to be a very funny gag that she's just the phone background.
[00:17:59] Yeah but she does pop up and so Daniel Radcliffe thinks that she is his wife or something right?
[00:18:07] He thinks he remembers them being a couple in when he was alive yeah.
[00:18:13] And so they finally make their way off the island and like get back to civilization and they organize a meeting with her and it turns out that she has no idea who he is right is that yeah.
[00:18:23] There's a point where Paul Dano it's his it's actually his phone and his phone background that Daniel Radcliffe sees.
[00:18:32] And so they do this whole thing where they acting out scenes and building memories and oh my god and like it's actually Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano falling in love which is incredible.
[00:18:40] And all the stuff and then he has to reveal that like you've actually never met this person this is my phone.
[00:18:45] And it like destroys Daniel Radcliffe and any of them end up in her backyard is like where they stumble out of the woods into her backyard.
[00:18:54] Like by accident basically and the bond between Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano has grown has repaired and grown strong again and so he's like you gotta go talk to her you guys this is your chance man because he's revealed
[00:19:06] Paul Dano that this was just some random girl in the bus that he used to see.
[00:19:09] Yeah he snuck a picture of her so he's ever actually talked to her and her daughter comes out into the backyard and sees Paul Paul Dano in a corpse.
[00:19:17] And it turns into his whole you know comedy of errors first thing where the cops and yeah the news the news reports are there and like Paul Dano's family comes by too right.
[00:19:26] Yeah yeah originally there he I don't know if he says that he's manny which is Daniel Radcliffe's character.
[00:19:32] I don't know if Paul Dano says that or if the news just assumes that he's manny somehow so there so his father shows up to identify the body.
[00:19:39] Paul Dano's father shows up to identify the body and they unzip the the body bag and it's Daniel Radcliffe and not Paul Dano.
[00:19:46] And it turns into a whole thing and then he's like no it was me and I blah blah blah and I love that man and he grabs the corpse and the body
[00:19:54] and dives down a hill back into the woods. They're gonna be together forever in the forest is how it ends.
[00:20:01] Well they catch him he gets to the beach they catch him on the beach with the ocean and arrest him.
[00:20:07] And he's trying to explain no he can he can fart. He's a lie like it's a whole thing.
[00:20:12] He's like these magical powers he has and just like as they're walking away arresting him you hear like a little fart in the distance
[00:20:18] and they all turn around and look wistfully as they start to cry as he jet skis off into the ocean.
[00:20:23] And then it cuts to credits and you're just like what is happening? What is going on the day the dance yes the Daniels I do remember for some reason like Mary Elizabeth Winston delivery of the line what the fuck
[00:20:36] Yes, it's like burned in my brain for some reason yeah when he starts to fart as they're as they're walking away like like he's like show them and he's show them nothing happens
[00:20:45] and he's like all said and they start to walk away and you hear a fart and I think the cop is like come on man to Paul Dad Oh,
[00:20:51] he's like no that wasn't me and they like all turn and look back at Daniel rec live. And she said it goes on for a while
[00:20:58] and she's like what the fuck like she has a really great line reading of it yeah and then he the tide comes in
[00:21:05] and he jet skis with his farts out into the ocean.
[00:21:09] Yeah, and there it is. Yes was army man I you know I wanted to rewatch it before this discussion
[00:21:16] but obviously didn't get the chance to do was to watch the start track five got a pair for that start track first contact episode yes
[00:21:21] But yeah no I'm glad that you ultimately enjoyed it Mike. Do you think like if you were to watch it again now knowing where it goes
[00:21:29] would you like latch on to a little bit more of that first F?
[00:21:31] I think potentially I think yeah, I think maybe I just wasn't I just maybe wasn't on board for the schick of him being dead
[00:21:39] like that long like it's easy he is a corpse for like 20 30 minutes maybe yeah
[00:21:44] and then there is the very funny scene which we didn't talk about where you're quote from the beginning was
[00:21:49] where he's trying to have teach yes to teach him how to talk and teach him how to do all this you know human stuff
[00:21:54] yeah, and he's trying to get him to remember things from his life and he and Paul Dan is start singing the theme from Jurassic Park
[00:22:00] and Daniel Rackliffe joins in and he's like you do you do remember you know Jurassic Park and he's like what is Jurassic Park
[00:22:07] and I said if you don't know Jurassic Park you don't know shit. So around there is where I started to be like okay
[00:22:13] I'm kind of into this Daniel Rackliffe is a real person now right this is for Jurassic Park yeah I like Jurassic Park
[00:22:20] and that's fun but yeah so maybe maybe knowing that it does get to a point where I'm very into it might help you get through those early
[00:22:27] thirdly half yeah fair enough all right any last thoughts on Swiss Army and my before we move on to into Puss & Boots the Last Wish
[00:22:33] I think that's good I'm just excited to see more of the Daniels you know it is it is fun to see these TV movies
[00:22:42] and see how similar stylistically in a lot of editing choices and stuff like that are the same
[00:22:47] yeah so it's cool that these two very weird filmmakers can make two very weird films and be very successful at them
[00:22:54] yeah absolutely they are very weird obviously they're they're only getting bigger I know in between these two movies one of the Daniels
[00:23:01] Daniels Daniels shine art did make another movie which I saw the death of Dick Long was the name of it
[00:23:08] oh I think I heard of that yeah and I remember like not being super into it I that movie does have its fans
[00:23:13] but I was just like I don't know it's it's it's very different than both Swiss Army and everything
[00:23:18] everywhere once like it's a dark comedy it's a you know I think it's sort of a time to like a blood simple
[00:23:23] ask movie and it didn't really work for me but I be curious watched again just you know post everything
[00:23:28] everywhere and all that kind of stuff but that was only one of the Daniels they weren't working at their full power
[00:23:33] right you know so yeah they made these two movies I think now the only thing on the horizon I'm sure they're working on something
[00:23:40] like some other movie oh actually in February 2024 it was revealed that Daniel's next feature film would be
[00:23:46] released on June 12th 2026 so okay two years from now they'll have a movie they also did direct one
[00:23:51] episode of Star Wars at skeleton crew so that's gonna be happening on Disney plus at some point can't wait
[00:23:56] yeah there you go all right so that is Swiss Army man I'm glad that Mike D finally got the chance to watch it
[00:24:01] and now it's time to move on into the movie that Mike made me watch which is Pusset and Boots the last wish
[00:24:08] I am Pussin Boots holy fuck it hey giant you want to see something cool
[00:24:18] thank you the legend will never die
[00:24:28] Pussin Boots you died I have nine lives and how many dives have you died already
[00:24:35] no Pussin Boots doesn't need a spotter watch watch I can't always land on his feet watch you are down to your last life
[00:24:48] Mama Luna always on the lookout for a new lap cat I have no lap cat I am Pussin Boots not anymore
[00:24:55] me out
[00:25:02] mate
[00:25:05] oh no this is a person party pickles that's your party so this is where dignity goes to die
[00:25:15] you don't look like the pickles well you don't look like a cat
[00:25:22] for disclosure I'm a therapy dog why were my belly hard but they found me
[00:25:31] only locks and the three bears cry finally make a talk excuse me my darling we're looking for the
[00:25:41] legendary pushing boots have you perhaps say what's a Pussin Boots
[00:25:48] it's me normally I have a sore is like a whole thing okay get that cat
[00:25:59] get all I will be just right about the hunters get his of bars I need your help
[00:26:05] whenever I come up with you things go wrong cool another member of the team I'm
[00:26:10] Puss is therapy dog definitely not finally you need therapy
[00:26:17] oh I have got to learn how to do that
[00:26:23] life's flashing before your eyes pray for mercy from Pussin Boots
[00:26:37] hmm it's personal I don't trust you trust me you gotta trust him look at those eyes
[00:26:52] you're gonna give yourself a heart
[00:26:59] all right those in the trailer for Pussin Boots the last wish directed by Joel Crawford
[00:27:05] starring Antonio Beneras Salma Hayek and more and it was released in 2022
[00:27:10] and Mike D why did you want to make me watch Pussin Boots the last wish I really wanted
[00:27:15] to examine the thematic I can't even pretend to come out with anything no
[00:27:22] to the last Pussin Boots the last wish is what are those movies that is like a 10
[00:27:25] year later sequel I don't know if it's actually 10 years but it's somewhere in
[00:27:28] there 11 years 11 years even longer that has no right to be half as good as
[00:27:36] it actually ends up being and I watched this I think last year when it hit VOD
[00:27:41] or something I don't remember exactly when I watched it but watch it with some
[00:27:44] friends and it was just like blown away I had so much fun with it it's one another
[00:27:48] one of those movies that has like a really funny I mean I guess that's the
[00:27:52] connection potentially between Swiss Army man and and Pussin Boots last wish
[00:27:57] really funny stuff but also I think they're both funny movies but also movies
[00:28:01] about like living life to the fullest in very dark at times yeah 100%
[00:28:06] so there is the bad at connections there and and it ends with a Shrek 5 T's
[00:28:13] really feels like a combination of a eight year joke on this podcast yeah
[00:28:17] had to finally get there and so Pussin Boots the last wish yeah this is a movie
[00:28:21] I wanted to see when it came out you know only because leading up to it I didn't
[00:28:26] care about it yeah I've actually never seen the 2011 Pussin Boots movie
[00:28:30] did you watch it I did not you know I kind of figured I could just kind
[00:28:34] of jump in yeah you can yeah and that was the case although there is when
[00:28:38] Kitty softpuss shows up I was like she's probably in the first movie that's the
[00:28:42] only thing that I was like you would really get the whole suit kids it's some
[00:28:46] high thing but yeah I mean I got it pretty quick like they you know establish her
[00:28:49] character pretty quickly and talk about how they almost got married and all
[00:28:52] that all that kind of stuff but he's like she just felt like a character that
[00:28:55] was like she's she's been around before yeah this is a reveal yes but yeah
[00:29:01] no I had not seen the 2011 Pussin Boots and so this coming out in 11 years
[00:29:07] later I was like yeah no I don't really care all that all that much and then the
[00:29:11] reviews started coming in with less wish people were going nuts for this move
[00:29:14] people people were falling all over themselves to praise Pussin Boots the last
[00:29:18] wish people were loving this and so is our favorite hero he's his favorite
[00:29:21] fearless hero and so yeah people were going nuts for it and I heard a lot of
[00:29:25] comparisons to spider verse in terms of like the animation style for certain
[00:29:28] sequences and I was like okay yeah I do want to see this I'm gonna check
[00:29:32] this out at some point but you know it came out like Christmas 2022 add too many
[00:29:36] others stuff to see you know that was the thing there's a lot of
[00:29:39] other things I had asked her to do I had asked her homework to do and yeah could
[00:29:42] not make the time for Pussin Boots too I was watching Avatar 2 in a theater
[00:29:45] next door you know yeah the time you could watch Pussin Boots twice you were
[00:29:50] watching one Avatar exactly I think that is actually that's true
[00:29:56] Pussin Boots the last wish is an hour 40 Avatar 2 is 3 10 I think you could
[00:30:02] do exactly you could watch Pussin Boots the last wish exactly two times in
[00:30:06] the time we take to watch Avatar the way but both good movies yeah so I
[00:30:12] was looking forward to Pussin Boots the last wish I was glad that you chose it
[00:30:15] it was one that like once I missed it in theaters and I was like oh yeah I got
[00:30:18] to get around to that but I'm not sure I ever would have like just watched it on my own
[00:30:21] I feel like I needed push for this one and that was part of my reason for
[00:30:25] choosing Antonio Benderas as one of my nominees for the complete work season
[00:30:29] I was eventually get to get to Pussin Boots the last wish so yeah I was
[00:30:36] obviously pretty familiar with the Shrek franchise I watched I saw Shrek one
[00:30:40] in two many many times I've seen Shrek three a few times two never saw Shrek
[00:30:44] forever after never saw the fourth one and never saw Pussin Boots and so this
[00:30:47] is like my return to this series yeah and yeah this movies have last it's super
[00:30:52] fun it's it was great to hear Antonio Benderas is Pussin Boots again I
[00:30:56] got how much I love that performance it's so good and yeah how how good he is
[00:31:00] just like oh are you two old to play Zoro now you can play Pussin Boots
[00:31:03] and just be Zoro again let's do the exact same thing just do the exact same
[00:31:08] thing yeah it's great and even I mean Salma Hayek which makes it like a
[00:31:11] desperado reunion between the two of them and then yeah this this movie I think
[00:31:15] feels much more sincere than the Shrek movies you know the Shrek movies are
[00:31:20] you know steeped in that kind of like post irony thing like it was very much
[00:31:24] really like oh yeah Disney does the fairy tales but we take the piss out of
[00:31:27] the fairy tales you know that's the that was their whole thing and did that
[00:31:30] very successfully for those first two movies right but this feels like oh no
[00:31:34] this is just going to be like a genuine fairy tale thing that uses use his
[00:31:38] elements of it and kind of turn stuff on their head but like isn't being
[00:31:41] like you know ironic about it I guess like it feels like it's you know kind
[00:31:44] of building upon all that's in a fun way yeah I watched the first like 30
[00:31:49] minutes before we started recording so yeah I didn't get to watch all of it
[00:31:53] again but the movie even starts with the title card like this story is a
[00:31:57] fairy tale you're like yeah fuck yeah let's go yeah let's be honest about this
[00:32:01] for once right what was opposed to the way Shrek opens where it is opening
[00:32:05] with that like fairy tale opening and then Shrek's like yeah like that's
[00:32:08] ever going to happen and he flushes his outhouse and all start starts
[00:32:11] oh my god also valid I love Shrek it's a great yeah we can't we can't
[00:32:18] I don't know yeah can't deny no but yeah I had a blast with person was the last
[00:32:25] wish I thought it was very fun it's just really fun adventure also occasionally
[00:32:29] very scary very dark very very dark so the idea of the movie is that
[00:32:33] Puss and Boots has died eight times he is down to his ninth life right and
[00:32:38] that instills the fear of death in him and so he goes in this quest to find
[00:32:43] like the fabled wishing star and which his nine lives back so he can like
[00:32:47] just you know get back to his swashbuckling ways and yeah like basically
[00:32:51] like the thing that Hanson throughout the movie is this wolf that is like
[00:32:55] the living embodiment of death and every time he shows up he like wheels these
[00:32:59] sickles any that first action scene with him and Puss fighting it out in the
[00:33:04] bar is crazy it's really good and like genuinely very intense yeah that's what I got
[00:33:10] up to when I was doing my rewatch when Puss and when Puss makes it
[00:33:14] to Mama Luna's like right after that okay but yeah holy shit like that
[00:33:19] moment when the wolf is is when they're fighting in the bar and Puss is
[00:33:24] like too slow and he gets grazed by one of the sickles and like the single
[00:33:29] drop of blood should go down his forehead when right the scene right
[00:33:33] before this is him singing this whole song about being a fierce hero hero
[00:33:37] who's never been touched by blade and then he just immediately has panic attack
[00:33:41] like it's for all puffs up his pupils dilate he starts panting and he runs in
[00:33:45] high you know gets out of there runs from a fight for the first time ever and
[00:33:49] it's like holy shit this is a kids movie like this is Puss and boots what are
[00:33:53] we doing here yeah what it is it is that's I think my favorite part of the
[00:33:57] movie is that it is very funny and silly and has the track Puss and
[00:34:01] boots thing but then also is like one of the most accurate and intense
[00:34:04] depictions of PTSD and panic attacks I've ever seen
[00:34:08] it's why it's a wild combo yeah absolutely and so all that stuff I think is
[00:34:14] really terrific and then yeah and then everything like the entire ensemble
[00:34:18] this movie builds up I mean this movie introduces a perito the dog who
[00:34:22] becomes pose a sidekick and really like the Puss kitty perito like trio is just
[00:34:27] yes it's it's Shrek Donkey Fiona it's the same it's the same thing it is
[00:34:33] as the first as that first Shrek movie but it works really well and perito is such
[00:34:37] a delight yeah like I don't know you know talking animal sidekicks like for me
[00:34:41] sometimes that could be annoying in movies this guy great like I would follow
[00:34:44] perito to the ends of the earth he's terrific the fact when they reveal
[00:34:48] that perito's sweater is in fact of the sock they stuffed him in and
[00:34:52] through the river or whatever they did most of the thing I've ever seen
[00:34:57] in a movie and it's devastating and perito is just like yeah but
[00:35:01] I have friends now so like he doesn't care yeah just like pure optimism the
[00:35:05] entire time and he was great he should have got the wish at the end yeah come on
[00:35:09] but that's the thing yeah he he doesn't need the wish he's just happy be in
[00:35:14] him and that's that's great isn't isn't Florence pew Goldilocks right yeah
[00:35:19] yeah it's you know Florence Piers Goldilocks and also Olivia Coleman as Malibar
[00:35:23] and Roy Winstone as pop a big yeah like what sexy bee sewn Ray Winstone yes
[00:35:28] yes actually be sewn Ray Winstone yeah and they're they're a great trio as
[00:35:33] well like the Goldilocks and the three bears and I don't know like part of it is
[00:35:37] like oh yeah these are like very easy jokes like oh yeah like two hot
[00:35:40] two cold just right or whatever I laughed every time every single time they found
[00:35:45] a lot of really fun variations on it and you know I liked them kind of being
[00:35:48] thrown to the mix I don't know I like it's sort of like the movie rat race or
[00:35:52] like yes 100% yeah we're just a lot of people all going after the same thing
[00:35:56] you know I mean even John Melania's Jack Horner which is very funny
[00:36:01] yes he's like henchman that he's just like ruthlessly killing
[00:36:05] the whole movie so fun yeah they like start being scared
[00:36:10] so far it's yeah there's this great visual guys with that you see guys like
[00:36:15] like he just becomes a skeleton there's a moment where he's like like oh man
[00:36:19] I love these guys and he's just like walking on his henchman as like as a bridge
[00:36:23] like in between two clips all that got a stuff which is very fun and he gets
[00:36:28] like a jimmy cricket esque like conscience to you forgot about that talked
[00:36:32] him for a while who then abandons him because it's like oh no you're an
[00:36:35] irredeemable monster he was doing like a jimmy steward impression yeah yeah
[00:36:40] it's very good it's it's great and yeah Melania is the bad guys really fun
[00:36:45] yeah no it's I just had a great time with this and the animation is genuinely
[00:36:49] very very impressive yes it really feels like a you know we've talked we've
[00:36:52] talked about spider verse a lot in the past few years and I think especially
[00:36:56] in the last year or two like you've really felt the influence of that movie on
[00:37:00] modern American animation and people being like oh shit we can do this now
[00:37:04] like we can do our own different kind of art styles and stuff and it can
[00:37:09] work and you know everything was so dominated by like that Pixar dream works
[00:37:13] like very similar looking CGI for like 20 years and so it's really like
[00:37:18] fun to innovate and see like this second person boots movie you know which
[00:37:22] I haven't seen the first person boot but I would imagine it probably looks
[00:37:25] pretty similar to Shrek yeah as far as I remember yeah you know and this
[00:37:29] movie feels like every time it cuts into an action scene it's doing the
[00:37:32] like you know kind of stop motions sort like pseudo like stopping kind of
[00:37:36] thing like it looks really cool yeah yeah it's neat they're doing the
[00:37:41] thing where like somebody is running and it's like a weird a little bit of
[00:37:45] like a weird frame rate and there's like the action lines like drawn on
[00:37:48] that and like yeah like remember in spedivers like there's a couple
[00:37:51] times like the where they put like pow you know or whatever like they put
[00:37:55] a text bubble or whatever yeah and this movie stops like just short of
[00:37:58] doing that but it is that kind of vein yeah exactly like it looks
[00:38:02] like it's like it's like grabbing an anime influence as well and all
[00:38:05] that kind of stuff and yeah I think it's just bringing in more visual
[00:38:08] style than I would have expected from person boots too you know right
[00:38:13] yeah the intersection that I watched at the beginning like just that
[00:38:16] that first like party and then fight with like the giant of Del Mar or
[00:38:20] whatever yeah is like it looks incredible it's like hold like right at
[00:38:24] the beginning of the movie they're just like really showing off like this
[00:38:26] is what we're doing for the next hour or two you know this is what we're
[00:38:29] going to be having and that's a lot of fun it's cool yeah absolutely and
[00:38:33] like I said person boots himself great well guys yeah like watching him he's
[00:38:37] a good time I kind of want to go back and watch the 2011 person boots
[00:38:40] I don't think it would be nearly as good as this like from what like how is
[00:38:44] the 2011 one have you you've seen it I've seen it but I don't really
[00:38:47] remember it at all I'm sure I'm sure it is much closer to Shrek
[00:38:52] than this more than that kind of like sarcastic sure funny you know
[00:38:56] whatever sort of taking the piss type thing like you said before yeah and
[00:38:59] I think it is that CGI same style as that but I haven't seen it in
[00:39:02] a long time so I don't really remember yeah man I think the reason I never saw
[00:39:05] it was that a I was 18 when it came out so yeah I don't need to go see the new
[00:39:11] person boots but also B I remember reviews like kind of being fairly mixed
[00:39:16] I don't know I just remember like you know the Shrek series like you
[00:39:20] know got like Shrek one and two were both like very well reviewed movies
[00:39:23] and then Shrek three I ever liking it but like it definitely did not get
[00:39:26] the same level of reception as the first two did like it was like oh this is
[00:39:29] seen as a step down from the first two movies and then Shrek four was kind
[00:39:33] of the same thing at that point I was 17 and like well now this is supposed to be
[00:39:37] bad so whatever so yeah when we eventually do the Shrek's respective when
[00:39:42] when Shrek five finally comes out which man that goes back to the beginning
[00:39:48] of this podcast it's like literally the first running joke we ever had on
[00:39:52] this podcast yeah like that goes back to 2015 I think when we were like we saw a
[00:39:56] news story about like Dreamworks prepping Shrek five like oh yeah it's going
[00:40:00] we're like okay Shrek five here we go we like it just became a running bit and
[00:40:04] kept getting delayed or we kept not hearing anything about it but we've been
[00:40:08] promising for years that if Shrek five is ever to happen that we will do a
[00:40:12] Shrek perspective episode of the podcast where we re where we rewatch all
[00:40:17] of the Shrek movies leading up to Shrek five I think they would have to include
[00:40:20] the person boots movies right what have to yeah yeah it's part of the Shrek
[00:40:24] cinematic universe yeah I just found the text between us January 13th
[00:40:29] did you watch the new person boots movie because it basically confirms a Shrek five
[00:40:33] all caps what I have not seen it what do you mean and I said it ends with
[00:40:38] person boots saying let's go see some old friends and the camera pulls back
[00:40:41] to reveal that they're sailing a ship towards far far away right and you said oh
[00:40:45] my God will the Shrek perspective finally happen so yeah this was over a year ago
[00:40:52] now we had that text exchange yes and still nothing still nothing which is
[00:40:58] crazy but yeah that moment is it the post credits or meet credits or is it I
[00:41:02] don't really remember exactly what before the credits so like there's like a title
[00:41:06] that appears on screen I think and then it's just that last scene of them on the
[00:41:09] boat and like going oh my going to see some old friends and it's yeah you see
[00:41:13] the far far away sign in the distance there is also a a silent Shrek and
[00:41:17] Donkey cameo at one point yes where and puts his life like flashes before his eyes
[00:41:21] and you see like just a bunch of various adventures that he's had and the Shrek
[00:41:25] it's like the Lion King thing we're like the walking on the log and it's yeah
[00:41:28] it's Preston Shrek and Donkey which was pretty fun I guess there's also a
[00:41:32] character from the 2011 puts and boots that does pop up in one of those scenes
[00:41:35] too but obviously I did not recognize yeah I don't remember I think we need to
[00:41:41] talk about the most controversial aspect of puts and boots the last wish
[00:41:45] okay the fucking new Dreamworks opening are they show the other Dreamworks
[00:41:52] franchises including bots baby and the bad bad bad
[00:41:57] creditors bad animals was that movie the bad guys bad guys yeah there in
[00:42:01] there yeah there that and that movie came out like six months before puts the
[00:42:05] boots the last wish they were really banking on that movie being something I
[00:42:09] think it did okay maybe I think it did yeah yeah but yeah I know I kind of
[00:42:13] liked the these sort of things it was fun I don't know I like it was hey they're
[00:42:20] driving a car and hey Poe from Kung Fu Pandas here and yeah the boss baby it did
[00:42:25] it did make I was watching this move with my girlfriend and she fell asleep
[00:42:28] about half hour in but she was enjoying it for the most part but she was we were
[00:42:32] watching that intro and she started laughing really hard and I was like why are you
[00:42:36] laughing and she's like when the boss baby showed up yeah and she was laughing
[00:42:40] because she was remembering me laughing really hard at one joke in the boss
[00:42:43] being incredible which was the joke of the boss baby when they're on like
[00:42:48] the they have to go they're going to like an Elvis convention or something or
[00:42:52] they're going to Vegas for like the baby convention and there's also yeah Elvis
[00:42:56] convention going on or something and somebody tricks one of the like the boss
[00:43:00] baby tricks one of the Elvis' and like disappears and the Elvis goes whoa the devil
[00:43:03] and the sky and I think I laughed for like a solid five minutes
[00:43:13] it's a really good joke it's pretty probably the best joke in the whole in the
[00:43:20] all the boss in either boss baby movie I would say it's easily the best joke yeah
[00:43:26] oh my god yes a movie I only watched because we had to review a boss baby
[00:43:32] two on the gold balloon pod yes correct yes anyway other thoughts about
[00:43:37] pushing boots last wish bike anything else that you want to bring up
[00:43:39] um I can't remember I didn't get to watch all of it so I can't really remember
[00:43:42] anything specific that I wanted to bring up but I mean I guess that that
[00:43:47] final fight around the star with all the bears and they're like they're like getting sucked
[00:43:51] into a portal later some ship yeah like on that whole thing and then the death
[00:43:55] death guy shows up yeah it's intense and scary and yeah genuinely frightening every
[00:43:59] time that little the wolf whistle oh man it's so cool it's so great and yeah
[00:44:04] that whole final sequence where yeah there is so many things happening and the movie
[00:44:07] is very clear about what's going on in the geography of the action and all that
[00:44:10] kind of stuff and that you're finishing character arcs and as you're getting
[00:44:14] through like you know everything with goalie locks and you know she gets the
[00:44:17] chance to make her wish and then she realizes you know she had like everybody's
[00:44:20] lesson is like we have what we all we want right in front of us you know
[00:44:23] right everybody's lesson this movie is that and yeah I think that's that
[00:44:27] moment when like you know the baby bears about to be like you know eviscerated or
[00:44:32] would it like just like yeah I'm not sure what happens to them once they go
[00:44:35] through that portal but like seems bad seems yeah turn to start us or something
[00:44:40] that's like that that last minute save where she comes in and saves him sacrificing
[00:44:44] her wish in the process like that's great love that yeah it's good stuff good movie
[00:44:48] that's all yeah good stuff yeah I can't think of anything other specific things I
[00:44:52] want to talk about in the last wish other than I had a really good time watching
[00:44:55] it while I was watching it I was like oh man like this must have won the Oscar for
[00:44:59] animated feature right like I was like this must have won and I went back and
[00:45:03] looked and it didn't but and but it did lose to Gio with the Torres
[00:45:07] Pinocchio I was like well all right yeah that I also loved that movie so you know
[00:45:12] it's it's fine but yeah I think this is a really fun movie I think it's it was
[00:45:18] also like a huge hit when it came out and I think just feels like a it's an
[00:45:22] exciting time in animation right now where you know there's more stylized
[00:45:25] weird animation coming kind of like spidervers kind of broke open the doors for
[00:45:28] everyone yeah and so Puss and Boots the last wish I was able to kind of do part
[00:45:32] of some of that the new Ninja Turtles movie was also you know that too
[00:45:36] Mitchell's was the machines trills love that movie so yeah I'm glad it exists
[00:45:41] it's a good time it'll it'll satisfy us until Shrek 5 comes out I hope
[00:45:45] which track five comes out it's more like this like I hope it's that kind of
[00:45:49] stylization to it you know yeah then be really fun it'll be a pretty big
[00:45:53] disappointment if they just go right back to the just like regular
[00:45:57] cg i thing but I have also heard that that Kung Fu Panda 4 is like a pretty big
[00:46:02] letdown which is disappointing yeah well I've heard so I have not seen Kung Fu Panda
[00:46:06] 4 actually still have not seen 3 yet which yes is on Netflix and I've been it's
[00:46:11] been in my queue after we watched Kung Fu Panda 2 for the podcast for the Michelle
[00:46:15] Yo podcast I was like I really enjoyed that I'm gonna hold on to Kung Fu Panda 3
[00:46:18] I have heard that 4 is like fine I believe the Furious 5 are not in it
[00:46:24] which and I think that that is a big part of like why people are a little annoyed
[00:46:28] about it makes sense or if they aren't it's like you know briefly like off in the
[00:46:32] background or something well you don't actually see them yeah yeah I mean isn't
[00:46:35] it like Angelina Jolie and Jackie Chan and like I would imagine they would want
[00:46:40] to save money yes not have those guys be in there yeah it says the Furious 5 make
[00:46:45] a brief non speaking appearance in the end credits wow with the exception
[00:46:49] of Seth Rogen providing screams for Mantis he pops he has some screams incredible yeah
[00:46:55] and it also like brings back I know Kung Fu Panda 4 like brings back the bad guy
[00:46:59] from the first movie too real Ian McShane's character so yeah there's that
[00:47:04] too but key he quads in it and that's fun that's neat love seeing him and stuff
[00:47:08] he's gonna be the lead of an action movie soon did you see this no what an action
[00:47:12] movie that I think 87 11 or like the you know the John Wick yeah chest of
[00:47:17] that that that crew I believe they're like doing the stunts for it's called
[00:47:21] with love so yeah neat that's exciting pretty monkey man really good I've heard
[00:47:26] monkey man's good yeah I'm looking forward to that so yeah action it's back in a big
[00:47:30] way baby and it all started because of person beats the last wish yes absolutely
[00:47:39] actually speaking of action movies also just very very briefly new trailer for
[00:47:43] Furiosa dropped today and man can't wait I saw I saw that it happened didn't watch it
[00:47:48] have you seen either the any of the trailers for oh man yeah you're you're
[00:47:52] unceiliged still at the Sunsullied still next time I go to the movies which I don't know when
[00:47:56] that'll be but I'm sure I'll see it be Furiosa maybe baby I did want to go see
[00:48:02] totally unrelated to any of this but late night with the devil yeah
[00:48:06] the smalchew movie but I doubt Furiosa trailer would play before that you know I mean
[00:48:10] if you're seeing it like the AMC or the real or whatever they kind of just tossed
[00:48:13] trailers in front of the insure there's no curation like I do with the rocks yeah
[00:48:17] you're right which we are playing late night with the devil for a late night
[00:48:21] oddity screening next month and I think we're talking about maybe give no
[00:48:24] to run nice so I'm excited to see that's yeah no it's a lot of it's monkey man
[00:48:28] late night with the devil civil war comes out in like two weeks immaculate seems
[00:48:32] to be getting buzz people do like a macula yeah I am curious about it so yeah
[00:48:37] yeah a lot of cool stuff and apes apes are coming soon when's that that's beginning
[00:48:41] in May I think what yeah also I'm hearing the fall guys great but the fall
[00:48:45] guy with the rank osling is supposed to be really good so that's great love to see
[00:48:49] it look what look what beautiful bounty person boots the last wish as a result
