[00:00:00] Start the clock, cause we got a lot to cover. A new DC role for Jason Momoa, the Key Man movie finally cast Skeletor, and a reboot rumor that will make you wonder, do we need to do this again? All that and more in under four minutes. Got it? Good. Let's get to it. Here are the three comic book stories that you need to know from last week. Jason Momoa is finally getting his dream role. Dateline confirmed that Aquaman star will be cast as Lobo in the new DC movie, Supergirl, Woman of Tomorrow.
[00:00:30] Momoa has stated multiple times on social media and in interviews that he would love to play the character and, in my opinion, he's perfect for the role. Lobo is a violent, foul-mouthed space bounty hunter that has regularly gone toe-to-toe with the likes of Superman. Not much is known about the movie other than it will be based off of Tom King's 2022 comic book series, Supergirl, Woman of Tomorrow, and that the role of Supergirl is being played by House of Dragons star Millie Atcock.
[00:00:55] After watching Fast X, I have faith that Jason Momoa can pull it off. The main man is finally coming to the big screen. It's official, Jared Lieto will play Skeletor in the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe live-action movie. Titled Masters of the Universe, Jared Lieto will play antagonist to Nicholas Galadzin's He-Man and will be joining the cast that already includes Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Idris Elba playing Man-At-Arms, and Camila Mendez playing Tila.
[00:01:23] No details about the plot just yet, but it's looking to be released in the summer of 2026. Jared Lieto has had a... interesting comic book career with his roles as Morbius and The Joker. Maybe this will work out better than the other ones. Who knows? And... We're getting a Power Rangers movie! Again! Industry insider Daniel Richman reported Paramount and Hasbro are developing a new Power Rangers movie aiming for a 2026 release date.
[00:01:52] The project doesn't seem to be connected to the live-action 2017 Power Rangers movie or the cancelled Netflix television series. Both past live-action Power Rangers projects did horribly, both financially and review-wise. I think a part of it was that no one really cared about a live-action project. My suggestion? Make it animated. We've seen some amazing animated superhero projects in the last decade, and I think an animated Power Rangers would be a banger. Paramount, give me a call. I've got some ideas.
[00:02:20] Lastly, a new week means new comic book content, so here are some new stuff to check out this coming week. In new comics this week, the Hellraising X-Man, Magic, gets her first solo series in Marvel's Magic No. 1. A new young superhero team takes the stage in Marvel's New Champions No. 1. Aquaman gets new powers and a new solo series in DC's Aquaman No. 1.
[00:02:43] And a new series from the creators of 8 Billion Genies about two demons trying to start a revolution in Hell in Images' The Lucky Devils No. 1. Lastly, in TV, the anime for the action-packed comedy manga series Sakamoto Days hits Netflix this Saturday, January 11. Fans of the retired hitman trying to protect their new normal way of life trope rejoice. And that's everything!
