[00:00:00] Hello, I'm Sam and welcome to Four Minutes 2, the four-minute Geek Pop Culture Podcast.
[00:00:09] Here every week to update you on all of things Geek.
[00:00:11] On today's episode, a review of Moonman No. 1 and the biggest Geek news of last week.
[00:00:17] Got it?
[00:00:18] Good!
[00:00:19] Let's get to it.
[00:00:28] This week, here's a review of Image Comics Moonman No. 1.
[00:00:33] Written by Scott Muskuddy, aka Kidcuddy and Kyle Kiggins, the writer behind Radiant Black
[00:00:38] images smash hit superhero comic.
[00:00:40] It stars Raymond, a black man returning from a mysterious failed mission to the moon.
[00:00:45] He just wants to get back home to his quiet life in Ohio but of course, life doesn't allow
[00:00:49] him that luxury when he discovers he has superpowers.
[00:00:52] It has interesting artwork and a solid premise while posing the question what happens when
[00:00:56] you mix SpaceX with Amazon.
[00:00:58] But is it worth a read?
[00:01:01] First off, Marco Lucoddy's artwork is way different than what's currently out.
[00:01:05] There are scenes of Raymond appearing to have flashbacks of the space mission where
[00:01:08] the panels look like a controlled chaos of colors in space.
[00:01:15] Check it out for yourself because that was my best attempt at explaining it but it all
[00:01:18] looks very pretty.
[00:01:19] Kidcuddy's style works well with Higgins in solid writing.
[00:01:23] This book reads like a typical of luckily hero finds powers in purpose but with commentary
[00:01:27] on mega companies and how they destabilize things from small towns to federal agencies.
[00:01:33] Yeah, not that far from our current reality.
[00:01:36] Raymond seems like many people caught between a good job and guilty conscience.
[00:01:41] The brief argument he had with a little brother shows that despite his awareness on the
[00:01:45] comic company he works for, he doesn't really see a realistic way forward.
[00:01:50] Overall, it's a good first issue and does enough that I want to pick up the first volume
[00:01:53] and see what happens next.
[00:01:55] If you like solid writing an artistry with the swag of Kidcuddy, this is the comic for
[00:02:00] you.
[00:02:10] Welcome back to the second half.
[00:02:12] Here are the news stories from last week that you should know.
[00:02:16] Again off set, Carl Weathers aka Apollo Creed died this past Friday at 76.
[00:02:22] Alright P.
[00:02:23] 28 years later the third movie in the 28 days later franchise has been greenlit by Sony
[00:02:29] and Killian Murphy will be the producer.
[00:02:31] The opening to 28 weeks later terrifies me to this day and is the main reason why I
[00:02:36] prioritized cardio so I hope they can top it.
[00:02:40] The Beetlejuice 2 movie will be called Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
[00:02:44] That is a perfect title.
[00:02:45] No notes.
[00:02:46] A new trailer for the Ghostbusters first empire movie came out last week.
[00:02:52] There were like so many ghostbusters in that movie, it's like eight of them.
[00:02:55] Who are you going to call?
[00:02:56] Apparently everyone.
[00:02:59] And in rumors, Kristi Ritter, star of the Jessica Jones series has a role in the Sonic 3 movie.
[00:03:04] Gotta be honest her voice in Rouge of Bad would be pretty perfect.
[00:03:09] Lastly, don't forget to check out this week.
[00:03:11] Season 2 of the live action Halo TV series starting Thursday February 8th on Paramount Plus.
[00:03:17] The Starship Superlikes shooting game, Hell Diabras 2, drops this Thursday on PC and
[00:03:22] PlayStation 5.
[00:03:24] Season 3 of the animated series Marvel's Spidey and his amazing friends swings in on Friday
[00:03:29] February 9th on Disney Plus.
